I am now drinking a Zinfindel red wine and was just wondering where the name came from.

Anybody know how it is different or better or worse the Cabernet or Merlot?

Zinfandel is the name of the grapes. The wine has to be made with at least 75% of Zinfandel grapes to be called that.

That's one of my favorites too. Though I like the Cabernet and Merlot as well.

It's a variety of grape. Whether it's better or worse than any other is just a matter of taste.
