It's not that uncommon for goldfish to change their colors. Especially ones that start out as black with a little orange on the belly. Here's a link that follows the color change of a goldfish in photographs: http://thegab.org/Articles/ColorChange.html
Most of this change is caused by heredity, but there can be some influence from light and diet.
It's really not a problem for the fish. The only color change that you would need to be concerned about is if the fish color becomes dull.

Goldfish may change colors as they mature. Black, for example, is a very unstable color in goldfish and will usually fade over time, often to be replaced with a gold or orange color.

Young goldfish sometimes start off dark and turn light. If these guys were little when you got them, this color change is part of maturing. More often one that will change to orange starts of bronze or dark coppery brown- baby colors.

They were very young when you bought them and developed their natural color as they became juvenile fish from being baby fish.
Gold fish change colors if they are subject to sunlight.
( I'm assuming they are NOT black-moors or telescope )

Goldfish change their colors as they get older. My fantail started out black, then it changed to pure white, and is now calico! Pretty cool, huh? this is perfectly normal. don't fret! he'll be just fne.
