well in being 14 now i say don't wait any longer to pursue your dream in building an acting career. start looking around in your school for any drama and/or performing arts classes that will get u into familiarizing yourself with how it feels to be on stage. continue taking classes throughout high school and college, so be sure to look into colleges that have serious acting classes. once you are done with college and have hopefully learned everything there is to know about acting, begin doing some voluntary performances (not for pay, right now you are only trying to get recognition, unless of course you are offered money). slowly, as you continue to perform on various stages and gain confidence, you will begin get in touch with strong and weak points. keep working on it, look around for any auditions that interest you and maybe someday i'll see you in a movie someday. hope that helped =]

I was your age when I decided I wanted to act. And unlike yours, my parents have never been very fond of the fact. Right before I entered high school, i decided that i needed to find some sort of acting class or afterschool activity, and I ended up finding something called the Cross-Town Ensemble at the prestigous Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago. From then on, I haven't stopped acting. I'm 18 years old now, and it's been really rough, especially when you don't have your parents support which means you're limited when it comes to auditioning and stuff, but if you really want it, you'll perservere. I became an ensemble member at a small theatre and I've been building up my resume. Also, its important to not take any opportunity for granted (as long as its within your moral standards) Research, Research, Research! Sometimes, especially for young people, paying for classes isn't possible so reading books about acting is the next best thing. You have to be educated. Take some time out of your day, sit down, and make a plan. Write down what you want to accomplish and how you're going to do it. Start working and putting money away for headshots-they're essential, you might be able to find some photography students at your school who'll do your pictures for free. Also, call your city/town's local film office and see what's being filmed in your area so you can work as an extra. See, you already have some insight about how you're gonna do what you're gonna do and that's admirable, I had no idea how I was gonna start acting at your age. Right now, I'm getting ready to move back to inner-city chicago and go to college as an acting major, it's a smart move in my case, because I'll always have a dorm to go to if I hit a rough patch.
More than anything though, you have to go about your dream the way you want to, and you'll fall sometimes, you may not get a role that you want, but you've gotta stay strong and keep your eye on the prize.

To be a "real" actor you should make certain that you flood your brain with as many scripts written for stage as possible. Get used to the writing styles, familiarize yourself with acting styles, memorize stage acting glossaries. Read everything from Shakespeare to Shyamalan. Watch Marlon Brando, Anthony Hopkins, Kenneth Branagh, Sean Penn, Emma Thompson, etc. You must take acting classes to enhance any talent that you were born with.
Once you are familiar with the skills needed, start auditioning. I would say: find a local talent agency and audition for them. If they like you enough, they will pick you up and send you on auditions.
Be true to yourself and to your character. Don't over act. ALWAYS be polite and never too full of yourself. Don't get thrown off track just because someone doesn't like your performing. If they offer criticisms, take them and work out the kinks. With every criticism, a new lesson is learned.
Acting is hard work and for some it takes years to fulfill their dreams. Don't think that you will be an overnight success. That doesn't happen. EVER!
Best wishes.

I would just follow my dreams and look into it on my own. When you find something you can try out for or something that you think your parents would let you do, than sit them down and ask them if you can try out if you cant ask them what you can do or have them help you try to find a part to act.
