The PNAC plan to invade Iraq was developed in the 1990s. Bush and Cheney started working on it as soon as they got into the White House. Afghanistan was an interim opportunity allegedly aimed at striking at Osama. The Iraq invasion goal could be pursued as soon as a puppet government had been set up in Afghanistan. Afghanistan was never a priority.

Iraq was easier because it had a dictator that its people hated. In that way, we could go in like under the guise of "saving" the country and possibly not risk much in the way of actually having to wage war. Knock off Saddam and the country would be ripe for picking---then send in Halliburton et al, and rake in the bucks. Also, they could twist history and make it seem as if we were doing something to stop "terrorism", and glean the support of the public. (Worked for a little while, but the Shrub seemed to think none of us was any smarter than him---fooled him, eh? Now he has opposition and is losing the public's backing!)

In Afghanistan we might have actually had to fight an "enemy".

Who aided and protected those who attacked the US? Well, besides the Shrub and his cronies, Afghanistan, of course!

OH God! how gullible all of u could be! i actually don't understand what the hell we are doing now in Afghanistan. do no longer u understand that the Neocons had to alter the Taliban Regime and set up a puppet Mr. Karzai? We supported the Taliban interior the previous. We paid them hundreds of thousands of money just to enable us to construct oil pipes from Turkmenistan by Afghanistan to Pakistan to the open seas. Taliban rejected our furnish and without notice has grow to be our enemy. basically because of the fact Taliban hosted Bin encumbered, we invaded the rustic, killed a brilliant number of Afghanistanis, spent billions of greenbacks and sacrificed a number of our troops. Does this make any experience? Our shape states that we are able to military retaliate or invade different countries if we get attacked by using that usa. Bush twisted the info around and desperate on his very own that any usa harbors a terrorist, we would desire to constantly attack as nicely. subsequently, permit's invade the whole international as terorists are in each usa in this earth. Taliban (Afghanistan) did no longer attack us. by using how, i'm a reliable Christian all-American guy and don't supply a rattling approximately Muslims and hate terrorism. yet, i assume i'm extra advised than you're.

There's no good answer. But it's a good question. Why aren't we focused on Afghanistan where the Taliban are re-establishing strongholds, instead of getting bogged down in an unrelated war that we didn't have to take on at that time?

I'm not convinced that we wouldn't have eventually had to deal with Saddam sometime anyway, but there was no emergency to go there. Afghanistan was already hot, and we ought to have finished the important work there before biting off more.

Most people just say for 'Oil'. But, I don't believe that. Some say because 'Saddam was a Bad Leader", while that does hold truth, the facts are this, Saddam started boycotting the 'Dollar", in fact, only 6 months prior to our pre-emptive attack, he would only accept Euros for oil. (Funny, when you think about it. The lead up to the war and how Saddam had all of these weapons of mass destruction. they were indeed very 'thorough' with their convincing evidence that was fed though the networks.) Notice this, Iran (beginning in April), only accepts Euros for oil. Then, suddenly, Iran 'has been suppling terrorist with ammunition to be used against Coalition Forces in Iraq. Another funny tidbit, is the evidence that was presented to us thought the networks were pictures of these mortors that were used against U.S. Forces and these 'weapons' were all marked in PLAIN ENGLISH????? Are we to believe that the Iranians stole these weapons and used them against our troops? or did we SELL the Iranians these weapons? OR COULD IT HAVE BEEN A SET UP? Now, remember this, after being questioned over and over on the 'intelligence' of "Iranian involvement" the subject was dropped. Not one word till recently. They are trying to win Support for an attack on IRAN! again!
Also, if any of you that read this, are questioning any of this information, please feel free to GOOGLE it! Our Great country is being played as a PON to save the 'dollar', (which in fact is nothing but a *fiat* currency that we have been duped into making some very greedy FORIEGN families rich....I ask you Where is AMERICA' Gold and Silver? You think it is still on this continent? Not likely, Unfortunately, (it is my belief and only my belief) that we have here a facade of gold and silver to give the American people the Idea that we still are worth something.
I SUPPORT Ron Paul, because I have READ his bills and legislation, and listen to his interviews and I Am SURE that he is our LAST hope for the revival of the Republic of America, and the Restoration of the Constitution.

GW Bush made invading Iraq a priority because the leader of Iraq, Saddam Hussein, had tried to kill his father (former President GHW Bush) in 1993.

The Bush Regime is righteous in passing judgment and proclaiming that Iraq, Iran, and North Korea form an "Axis of Evil"? While you are grabbing stones to cast at this trio for their deplorable records on human rights, consider the acts of barbarism, terrorism, and deceit the United States has committed against the first member of the so-called "Axis" over the last two decades. Since Reagan swaggered into office, America has been committing genocide against the Iraqi people in multiple ways. Bear in mind that these "evil" Iraqis never attacked the United States or its citizens. Their crime? Ostensibly it was that their tyrannical leader, Saddam Hussein, needed to be deposed, they possessed weapons of mass destruction, they were a threat to the United States, and eventually were complicit in 9/11. But for those who live in reality, the Iraqis’ true "sins" were possessing vast quantities of oil, daring to sell their oil for Euros instead of the almighty Dollar, and posing a "threat" to poor little Israel, a nation bristling with military firepower and enjoying the unflinching support of the most powerful military in the history of humanity.

The real war was to be in Iraq even before he was appointed as president. Afghanistan was just a small event that wasn't very important and just a pesky little thing getting in the way of his really important war.

Iraqi Mukhabara intelligence was seen working closely together with Al-Qaeda and the Taliban since 1992 by the CIA. Mukhabara was linked to the embassy bombings, the first world trade center bombing, and several other acts of terror around the world. Both countries aided those who attacked the United States. Being in the Army since 1996, DOD intelligence had their fingers on AL-Qaeda and Mukhabara for 10 years. US military wanted to go and take them out but cowards and lawyerism prevented this.
