by not letting them have anything they can hold over you. you have to take away their power. if it's info they have, tell it first. if it's pics, ride the storm out. embarrassing only lasts awhile, blackmail lasts forever. clear your closet of the skeleton and live your life free.

I'll need to know if it's with an item, information, or somthing else..I'll give the most commen for now

If it's information then you can do
1-let it ride, don't do as he/she says, get it let out and know that it is not going to last forever (assuming it's school)
2-tell it yourself, makeing it a 'i' was so stupid' joke, start a 'the stupidest thing you did was?' conversation, and once your turn to give your story, slip it out. Much less painfull I would think
3-get held under their will for a loooong time..longer then any words could stick with you, in almost anycase (school wise, I am assuming you in about high school)

this is a general guideline for what I am thinking, not a sure thing..don't know what the situation is, be carefull, but most anything is better then four years of tourture because of one sentance. =)

as to other types of blackmail, or if the info really IS ...a different kind then hummilliation....e-me (click my pic)

Good Luck friend.

PS if it's more serious then it gets tangled...if it's info, the 'tell them yourself' rule is usually good to keep in mind.

Police if it is involveing anything serious. Be carefull and let the police know perhaps while you tell the story yourself~

Your old 'mistake' or other hidden thing is best to be fixed sometime, now is a good time to get that out from under you, if you have good friends and folks, it will hurt less to come clean and work it out.

It all depends on the outcome. If you mean "beat" by not letting yourself be blackmailed you must know how to avoid letting it happen. But sometimes it is far too along and all you can do is ride it out and beat it by outliving it or by just not caring and accepting and living with the damage and some day overcoming and going forward.
