You could try CAREFULLY heating the receiver with a torch to expand the metal. The receiver will likely expand more quickkly than the hitch itself. Wrap a chain around the ball and hook it to another vehicle which would pull out the hitch. Stay out of the way --- you don't want that hitch hitting you on the head as it breaks loose. Tell the other driver to back up slowly. Good luck.

Hook it to another vehicle or a solid object and SLOWLY pull forward to pull it out. It should slide right out. The hitch or the insert may also have some burrs on it and may need the high spots filed off to make it slide easier.

Its rusted in there. Spray it with a penetrating oil. Bring it to a welding shop. They can heat it up to get it out.
a expanding hydraulic wedge will pop it loose. Body shops have one of these.
A big hammer will work . Just whack the ball. Be careful it doesn't bounce and hit you or the truck body.

Yes, put it to work. Hook a trailer that has some weight to it and drive round in a pasture or some other "safe" area. It'll come out. Hook a chain to it and to a tree or some other "immovable" object if you like. Driving with the trailer attached is likely to be more certain to work.

If it doesn't fit, get a bigger hammer!
Seriously, you probably just have it shoved in too far. Just use a hammer to help get it freed up. Don't just hit it hard. Tap it lightly on the sides while pulling. It will wiggle out slowly.
Wow, now I am a little turned on but that is totally unrelated to your problem. Best of luck. :))

Use a hammer and tap it out from behind the hitch, I had the same problem, took 2 minutes to get it out.

i own a repair shop, and mine did this a few times ,it was rust that caused mine to do it ,because i hadn't used the hitch in a while, try hitting on it with a hammer some, this will help dis-lodge it from there, mine did it once because i did push it in too far, good luck with it hope this helps.

try some Wd40 or even heating the outer piece to expand the metal, you could even wrap a chain around the ball and tie to something immovable and drive forward
