What about this whole 'mixed race' term? Tiger Woods called himself 'mixed race' on Oprah, and America was shocked that he didn't want to label himself as 'black'. He says as his heritage is Caucasian, Black, Native American and Asian, and that he had need to invent a new word to describe himself... Cablinasian. A whole new dictionary of race names may be on the horizon for the future.... who knows. Why do we need to check boxes on our race anyway?

Honestly, none of us are pure one race or another. I have a lot of American Indian in me, but I check Caucasian. I personally think that type of question should not be asked.

Most sheets offer the option of OTHER, or they put alot of different cultures/races, and allow you to check what applies.
When I get questionaires, I check black and then white, or just plain old other.

Normally They would check the one that is more dominant in them or the one that refers more to the last name that they use, or the one that will allow them the most benefits. I do know that if their last name doesn't reflect the traits that it will probably get questioned. My sister is white, her ex husband is Mexican, but was adopted by a white family, so his last name was white. My Nephew is half but looks white and has a white last name so has to check white / Caucasian.

They don't have other on the check sheet, they would probably go by whatever race the Mother is.

Depends on what the two races are. If the parents were black and white, usually they pick black. I know a young man who is Puerto Rican and black and usually checks black and he looks more Puerto Rican. I guess it's who they mostly identify with.

On most forms you are allowed to check as many races as apply to you.

If you have to pick just one, then pick the one that you have the most of. Meaning, if you are 75% black and 25% white, pick the black option.

If its a pretty even spread of nationalities, and you are only allowed to pick one, then pretty much just pick whatever one you want.
