do you think romeo is truly in love with juliet? i dont think so. here is why: #1 he was madly in love with Rosaline and he said that he would never like a girl as much as he did her. rosaline breaks his heart in saying that she will remain abstinant until she gets married.
#2 he meets juliet at the capulet party and instantly forgets about Rosaline even though he promised he would love her forever.
#3 he proposes to juliet less than twenty four hours after they meet
#4 and he makes the statement : only fools keep their virginity wich a direct strike against Rosaline....
what about you? do you think it was truly meant to be why or why not?

Well ace, you must understand the complexity of this situation. Although Romeo does love rosaline at the start of R&J he slowly begins to believe she isnt right because he doesnt want to have sex with her. For the most part this is true, and yes he does want more. So he turns to someone who comforts him, but at the same time is a enemy. As you know the Capulets are the enemys. He really does believe rosaline is the right one, that is, untill two things happen. First, juliet comes into the picture taking her underwear off. Second, rosaline will not have sex with romeo. When she tells him that he feels taken a back as if he isnt good enough for her. So you see he really wants sex, to explore, etc. Shakes... thought about this a lot, it wasnt where he just wrote non-sense. I have actually wrote a few essays on this topic feel free to contact me if you want me to send you some.

Every Shakespearian tragedy has a "hero". That hero always has a flaw. Romeo's were irrational thinking and hurried decisions. He was all in all mopey and annoying to me, and he did too much based on his first impulses. Maybe he got with Juliet to get back at Rosaline, maybe he didn't. Who knows? If only William was here to tell us...........

no. who would propose to somebody in less than 24 hours. i don't think it was true love. he said he loved her at first sight, he mat have been in love with her looks, but not her. but also, shakespear made up the story, and if he says they are in true love, they are, he's the writer.

No, I think it was just teenage lust. I agree with your points. He was in love with the idea of being in love.
