I have a watch that says water resist to 4 ATM

That stands for atmosphere, and is the pressure at sea level (~14.7 psi/101 kPa). One atmosphere of pressure corresponds to about 10 meters (33 ft) of water.

Atm = atmospheres

Your watch is rated for a pressure equal to about 4 atmospheres. I'd belive it if I saw it....lol

Just to add to "fizixx", who is quite right:

This corresponds to a depth of about 30m of water. Many watches make this claim, but it is usually completely bogus and I would definitely not recommend wearing the watch under water at all. My son had such a watch which was ruined after being under at most 2m of water. This false advertising should be stopped!

atm stands for atmosphere. one atm is equal to 100 kpa (pa stands for pascals, another unit for pressure)
