The crash happened at Bass Lake in Indiana, the helicopter was pulled up the next day after it was dragged in the water. The seat belts were both unlatched across the seats, and only 1 body was pulled in right after the crash, she was dead. Some people have said that they never should have dragged the helicopter in, but instead lifted it with another helicopter, so maybe the pilot was pushed in the mud at the bottom as a result. Also the water temp is still about 45 degres, not warm yet.

It's a disturbing question, but a valid one. My educated guess would be never. Most helicopters have a 4 or 5 point seat belt strapping you in tightly and I would assume he would never surface. What and where did this crash happen?

Perhaps the body is stuck in the helicopter underwater. They should pull up the sunken helicopter.

If it is trapped by something heavy, it may never surface.
From what I understand, bodies normally float initially, then sink as they become waterlogged, then float as the gases accumulate inside them as they decompose. It should have taken less than a week.
