Definately incomplete dominance. If the hen was a mixture of black and white feathers, then that would be an example of CODOMINANCE. The intention of a white hen and black hen creating a grey hen, would definately be incomplete dominance because it occurs when 2 alleles influence the phenotype (as the same amount as the other) and result in an intermediate phenotype. It's almost like a red flower and a white flower mate and create a pink flower... Independent assortment is when factors (alleles) for a different characteristic are distributed to gametes independently.... I hope I answered your question. I learned this about a year ago, I am looking at my notes and remeber some of it as I am writing :).

Incomplete dominance causes the heterozygous ones to have an intermediate form of the trait: in this case, white and black makes gray.
