Each time you make a dilution there is a chance for error, via inaccurate pippetting etc.

Errors will be carried and/or compounded in subsequent dilutions.

Going from the wrong volume to volume and C1V1=C2V2; inserting values improperly into this equation, or forgetting subtract/add volumes.
