for the past 2years i have been having dreams where i am alseep and im dreaming a normal dream, but suddenly it turns into a nightmare and i can feel myself in the dream and my body is paralysed and there isn't anything i can do about it. When i am dreaming i spend the whole time trying to call someone in my house at the top of my lungs, then also try and tell myself to wake up, while running or fighting back with whatever it is im scarred of, in the end i end up crying and breathing really fast. but for the past 6months it has gotten a lot worse and i have the same type of dreams every night. I'm actually quite afraid to sleep now, as i don't want the dreams to happen again. i sleep with my light on because i am afraid of being in the dark, i am 20. Also Last night i had a dream where there was a figure i can not remember what it looked like. i remember is it trying to strangle me and i felt fully awake &could see my sister in the bed opposite i cried & then it vanished in secs. help

set an alarm clock by your bed about 2:00 in the morning and that might wake you up. other than that, see a psychiatrist.

Dreams are all about how you felt during the dream, sound like you are unhappy, no one hears you even when you scream, you are afraid and you feel strangled.
You do need to talk to someone trusted about your dreams and how they make you feel. You need to get some sleep or the lack of sleep could trigger an psychotic episode.
My son was having the same kind of dreams but he was tied up in a psch ward, we talked about it and thought maybe he needed to move out so he didn't feel trapped at home and he now has his own apartment and the dreams are gone.

You have sleep poralisis, sorry i cant spell well, I know because i have it. I didnt know what was wrong with me either its actually a sleep disorder. I was telling a friend one day, she let me know she and her mother both had it. Its actually a passed down kinda thing. Any way mine mostly happens during the day, u cant breath u know ur asleep but u cnat move, its terrifying. Heres a trick that always helps, because not matter what u do ur not going to be able to scream. Try and move your pinky then your arm, this always pulls me out. I dont take naps anymore because i dont want to mess with it. I was on a road trip with my husband when it happend last. He was 10 inches away and i was just trapped. Its awfull but try the trick and keep trying to open your eyes it really helps. Remember pinky first. I hope that helps- amanda

if you are able to realize you are in the dream, you are having lucid dreams. you can control the dream reality with your thoughts. usually people who know they are dreaming, dont have nightmares. i would try to battle the nightmare with good thoughts.

i remember when i knew i was having a nightmare, i would push my arms against the bed and it rise me out of bed to wake me up, and it worked.

if you know your dreaming then it shouldnt scare you. my advice is to try and face the dream with no fear. dont let whatevers happening bother you. maybe if you stop being afraid of the dream the dream will just disappear.

I would change the source of the stuff you are smoking. They are cutting it with rat poison.
