Does anyone have an idea of what this could be? It is a 1992 grande Prix.I know for sure it is not the brakes.

i own a repair shop,and id say you have a bad bearing or a cv joint that's going out on it,that's the only thing that will crunch like that ,but id get it checked and repaired as soon as possible,when they get this bad there really dangerous to be driving,so get it took care of as soon as possible,good luck hope this helps.

Sounds like a bad Constant velosity joint. Best fix is to replace the drive axle, which will include both the inboard and outboard joints, and is much easier to change than the individual joints. Good luck

Its probably a CV joint gone bad.

Bad CVJ; replace the whole set (inboard and outboard)

Every post is correct...CV joint. They are not expensive to repair.
