yes, it does not have a normal name yet, just a bunch of numbers. they are saying that is has a similar temps to that of earth( -136f to 124f). the new planets temps are -36 to 124f. also, it is said that this planet has water!! so it is very earth like. there is a good chance this planet may contain some sort of life! also, nasa has discovered over 200 planets. very intersting discoveries! there are even two new ones in our own solar system!!! so really there are 11 planets, but nasa made a stupid ideas to not give them planethood and took plutos away! so now there are only 8 planets. from now on any planets found in our solar system that are beyond neptune are no longer even given a planethood.

Astronomers have detected over 200 exoplanets (planets circling other stars than our sun) around over 160 other stars. The most recent one was discovered around star Giese 581, which is a red dwarf 20.5 light years away and about a third the mass of the sun.

The new planet is about 50 percent bigger than Earth and about five times more massive.
It apparently has evidence of some water on the planet, they don't know how much yet.

Gliese 581 C is the smallest extrasolar planet discovered so far, located about 15 times closer to its star than Earth is to the Sun; one year on the planet is equal to 13 Earth days.

Because red dwarf stars are about 50 times dimmer than the Sun and much cooler, their planets can orbit much closer to them while still remaining within their habitable zones, the spherical region around a star within which a planet’s temperature can sustain liquid water on its surface.

By the way, all this is available online if you search for it.

Yes, just three days ago astronomers announced the discovery Gliese 581 c. It's the most Earth-like exoplanet found to date. It's a moderate sized planet, with a moderate temperature, and a rocky terrain - translation: "could habour life."

Here is an article about it about it:

No. Scientists discovered a planet that has been there for many thousands, if not millions, of years. It is only new to us.

I read they did. The story I read said it was possibly habitable. Personally, I think we should leave other planets alone.
