racism

I’ve NOT seen where any Africans are being oppressed or segregated in this part of America, that I know of anyway.

I actually don't know any Africans but, I've never heard of Africans living in any more poverty than anyone else in America.

NOW, if you are referring to African-Americans you are referring to a very large group of people and I don't think that it is fair to apply that question to the entire race. For example Oprah Winfrey is an African-American and she is one, if not the richest people in Americans.

I'm not so naive to think that some people are not being oppressed by other people but, that subject isn't as black and white as you might have us think.

The truth is that white people have oppressed black people. But, from what I've seen around here (I live in the south) black people are oppressing other black people and they are even oppressing themselves. And the desegregation movement around here is well on his way in this area as well.

Next question?

i wouldn't say they are oppressed anymore. However I would agree that they aren't living in the best of conditions. They do have the equivalent chance, or opportunity to make whatever they like out of their lives, but when one is brought up in a poor area, cannot afford the best of foods, education and health care, then of course they are more likely to become failures of America's capitalist nation of today. This ideology can be applied to all minorities and immigrants who come to America in order to have a better life for themselves.

Not all Africans in America live in poverty and are segregated. It all depends on where you live.
Edit: I agree with Phil's answer. If you don't work or try and bring yourself out of your slump than it is noone's fault but your own that you live that way. Can't blame other people for your problems.

This is to complex of an issue to give an accurate response but here goes. Basically african americaqns are still livin in poverty for many reasons. Racism, lack of opportunity, poverty itself, and many other factors are why african americans are still living in poverty.

give me a break. "Africans" in america have the highest quality of life of "africans" anywhere. EVERY other country in which "africans" live, even african controlled africa, they have miserable lives. War, famine, poverty, unemployment, strife, aids, crime and such are a hallmark of the african culture. Any city or area that "africans" control in america is full of crime and poverty for that reason. There are many many "africans" who reject your idea, because like every other person in america, they were able to rise above challanges and become successful. It is the notion that "africans" are held down by the man, that allows certain "africans" to blame others for not having success. In detroit, the public schools have a graduation rate of about 50%. The schools have "african" leadership, they all come from "african" neighborhoods and the city is run by "africans". How is this the fault of the white man. Every person has their own problems and every person determines whether or not they will overcome them. It is statements like yours that give them an excuse for not succeeding.

What you have to understand is that there is so much governmental assistance (Pell grant, financial aid) for poor blacks to go to any community college or state university to get an education to better provide for ourselves. Instead many of us would rather take the "easy" route and earn a fast buck. Factor in teenage pregnancies and no parents at home and you'll find that Blacks in America contribute greatly to our own oppression.

Some because they live their life in fear. Some because they are comfortable where they are. Some because they've made mistakes that has taken a toll on future opportunities. And some because they are stubborn and refuse to acknowledge our Father. They refuse to humble their hearts and pray for a difference. Some just don't care one way or another. Not just blacks, but every race.

The best way to avoid responsibility for being unsuccessful is to BLAME another, or even better to blame a broader base as you did....a WHOLE race.

Opportunity is everywhere and there are no restraints but ones' an individual presents upon themselves. The blame game does not fit anymore!

Blaming your failures on oppression and segregation is irresponsible.

Thy house doth fall in disrespect.
Thy words do spew of offal.
Thy body fills with thy Rot.
Thou art a Troll.
Thou art a bigot.
Thou art an apostate of thine own religion.
Thy God, Allah, doth abhor thee.
