I'm not really internet word savy but I do know what those mean. I looked them up at Urbandictionary.com

Noob

A noob or n00b is someone that lacks intellegance or common sense, most people think that noob is a word used only in the online gaming world, but in reality it is becoming an ever popular word with teenage society.
a noob could be simply a level 100 running round shouting ''WTF DO I GO!?'' or someone calling someone else a noob and then getting hit with a brick, anyone can call anyone a noob, but normally they are noobs themselves

*gets shot with chaingun*

"this game is no good, you all suck noobish balls you stupid noobs!*

and

Pwned

A corruption of the word "Owned." This originated in an online game called Warcraft, where a map designer misspelled "owned." When the computer beat a player, it was supposed to say, so-and-so "has been owned."

Instead, it said, so-and-so "has been pwned."

It basically means "to own" or to be dominated by an opponent or situation, especially by some god-like or computer-like force.

"Man, I rock at my job, but I still got a bad evaluation. I was pwned."

OR

"That team totally pwned us."

What Does Noob Mean

There's a little history. :)

noob = phonetic spelling of newb, or newbie, i.e. rookie, freshmeat, etc. Often written as n00b (with two zero's instead of o's)

pwned = well, it's supposed to be owned. It started as one of the Warcraft 2 maps. The map maker threw in a lot of custom messages like "___ was slaughtered / destroyed / annihilated / pummeled / eradicated / .....". Well, you get the idea. He was supposed to put in "OWNED" for one of those verbs, but he had a typo and entered "PWNED" instead. And nobody caught the mistake. The map was good and became really popular, and the expression PWNED got stuck as net lingo.

pwned means that you owned someone at something, you beat them at it.
noob means someone who is new to the game and/or doesn't know how to play the game right.

"pwned" means "owned." It was a typo that caught on and became popular.

Noob is technically short for "newbie," but unlike newbie, "noob" implies someone whose online behavior is poor. Calling someone a noob is the same as telling them that they have bad manners.
