1) The actual process of putting them on wasn't too bad. only the back braces around my molar teeth hurt a bit. and once the actual wires were connected, hurt for a few days until I got used to them.
2) I don't know that the taking off part, it was very strange sensation. it did make my teeth ache for a day or two. the back braces on the molars, the ones that wrap around the teeth hurt the most. You will constantly want to lick your teeth. like your braces are still there.
3) i don't know....had them when I was 12-13 and wasn't in to the whole kissing thing.
4) not that I am aware of.
5) bread and gum were the worst things I can remember getting stuck. especially white bread that is soft.
6) i got plain old silver. not many choices back in the late 80s. do not get clear though...they turn yellow. Yuck!
7) i would really not recommend sticky candy, gum of any kind. Especially things like toffee, gum, etc.
8) follow your doctor's instructions. i did that to a T and got my braces off two months early. My brother did not and had an extra six months. That wax stuff they give you works wonders when you get the wires changed. They can be sharp, and you stick that stuff over the wire ends, and no more pain.
9) nope....but they will change the way you smile :) YOu will do it a lot more

i have had braces for 2 years and im about to get them off, so i cant tell you what it feels like to take them off..
But when you get them, it dosent hurt to put them on, it just aches and makes your whole mouth sore when they add on the wires and you wait about a good 15-20 min. Then they start to hurt and be sensitive for a few days. I know your wondering how many days, but every one is different. it always takes me no more then a day or two. They get in the way of vigorous kissing, but should not be a problem, just keep it clean. Foods only get stuck if you have bad hygene. Small or sticky foods may get stuck but you can get a quick brush and it will all clean off. The colors dont matter, its your choice. Your going to have them for a while, so get used to the look. And dont damage them because your parents are paying good money for them. If you damage them you may need to pay a full routine again and get it redone. Bad experience. Of course it will not change the way your face looks, but it has alot of things that vary depending on your teeth and the dentist that you go to. For example, some dentists use bigger brackets, ect which makes them seem bigger or "geeky" and some use smaller ones which are less noticeable or that stand out less. You will get used to it though, so make sure you make the best of it, it will reallllllly help your teeth. Best answer =)

i had braces when i was a teenager....in the 90's things are a bit differ now....
1. how much does it hurt when they are put in.
it's not to bad..a few days at most...the first day was soup to eat...just easier.
2. what does it feel like to have them taken out?
wierd...i couldn't stop taking my touge over my teeth...and feeling teeth not ruff jaggs and wire...
3. Do they get in the way of kissing. Im a girl
LOL yeah they can...but its well worth it....my friends always wanted and another guy friend to kiss and get our braces locked.
4. Do they get caught on the inside of ur or someone else mouth easily?
mind u mine were older types...but yea sometimes the doc gave me wax stuff to put on the jaggs untill i got for him to fix.
5. Does food often get stuck in them? what foods do most?
bread! sandwiches...hoagies, some meats...keep a brush handy and take one to school....else u'll be picking at them all day.
6. What are the best colors to get?
they had colors i didn't get one....its up to u just remember u have to live with what u pick for the next few years!
7. What cant i eat with them.
li9ke i said sandwiches are a pain....there really is not much else.
8. anthing else i should no.
9. will getting braces change the way my face actually looks??
that depends, i have an over bite still because i never wore the rubberbands to pull my jaw up....i'm glad i didn't because my jaw line was/is fine. i know someone who had braces and had her bottom jaw pulled to match her front....it gave her all kinds of problems....until she had part of her jaw bone removed....i don't remember the whole story to hers...so don't freak. it depends....on u...and what kind of bite/profile u have.
good luck...it was the best thing my parnets did for me. just remember they are not cheap! so take care of them and one of the water flosser work best...because threading braces is not easy or fun!

i had braces for 4 years..that should say enough..haha
1.) for me, it hurt to put things in my mouth. Spagetti, a spoon..it was hell..you should eat as much stuff as you can before you get your braces, you'll lose the weight anyway.
2.) your teeth feel super slimey
3.) it didnt get in the way. Atleast, you dont really think about your braces when you're kissing..unless you both have braces, and you're afraid they'll get stuck..but i dont know if this really happens. anyway, [after i got my braces off] i kissed a guy with braces, i didnt notice it.
4.) no, unless you're mouth is dry..
5.) everything gets caught...think of it as a snack for later..
6.) burgundy...and pink
7.) stay away from gum [your wire could come out, i was eating those tootsie pops, and i tried yanking off the tootsie part...my wire came out and was stabbing the side of my mouth..
8.) brush your teeth..and wear your rubber bands!!! its a total ***** and is a pain at first, but your teeth will get used to it.
9.) your face stays relatively the same..but your mouth gets bigger
hope this helps. braces arent as bad as they seem..have fun!
