THIS IS MY OPINION. I dont vouch in favor of tattoos. aside from the fact that i think them unattractive, there is the fact that God condemed them. Are you going to say that those are ancient and outdated laws? Like the one that say "don't fornicate" or in other words: dont cheat on your wife/husband. is that one outdated too? God created us and the Earth and universe. Is that all outdated too? And i hear people talking about how God loves all his creatures the same no matter what. but 1st off, tattoos arent part of people or their personalities, they are simply options and decidions. other people say that tattoos are a way of expressing themselves. What if tattoos didnt exist? There is more than one use for a mouth besides eating and that's talking. also people wear tattoos that are hard to understand with symbols and such? so how are people supposed to know what you are expressing? if you have it out there on your body and for expressing something, how exactly will that work?

The good thing is...you are entitled to your opinion. You should not feel bad about the way you feel towards tattoos. The problem comes in this day in age that people want to do what people want to do...and you can not force your opinions and beliefs on others. I do agree that there are references in the bible that you should not deface your body because your body is your temple. There are references about fornication. Problem is...people have no fear anymore (not all, but most). What was a stigma 10 years ago is nothing today. This is a desensitized society. Does the bible also state Tho Shalt Not Kill? Look at what is going on in the schools...kids shooting other kids. Look at all of the violence in this society today. I would think that tattoos are a little priority next to something major as murder. Tattoos have been around forever. I do not believe that they are going anywhere. Some of the best people I have met - are tattooed. Tattoos have always had a bad rap. If someone is using their body as an expression though tattoo art...you want to know what the expression is...you ask.
I think you make a valid point in your argument and is quite an interesting topic for discussion.
Thank you for posting something that inspired intelligent thought.

I dont see a problem with tattoos. I dont like the people that have their arms and legs and every part of their body covered in tattoo, but I do have one tattoo. It's Carpe Diem (Latin for seize the day) in black ink over my belly button, so that when I'm standing in front of the mirror in the morning, I can remember to make every day the best it can be.

First, you sound so scared and worked up, please RELAX.
In the realm of all the complexities of this human endeavor items like body art seem so, so miniscule.
It sounds like you are referring to the Christian "God" up in heaven in your question and I'm willing to bet that even He does not sweat the small stuff like tattoos.
Be a good person, dont hurt others - follow the basic 10 and I think you're good to go with your Creator.

I think tattoo's are art, they have NOTHING to do with God. People like you ruin other people's lives, just because you for some reason think you know what God wants you shove your opinion in everyone's face telling them it is'nt what he intended. Like you guys ******* know!
And people don't get tattoos intending other people to know what they mean, only themselves and those close to them, hoping that people will mind their own damn business. If you don't like tattoos, don't get them and shut up! It's a choice you can make for yourself, but not for anyone else.

Way to break the #1 guideline...using Yahoo! Answers as a soapbox to vent your frustrations, rant, or otherwise violate the question and answer format. If you prefer to have discussions or chat with others, please use one of Yahoo!'s other community services, such as Yahoo! Groups or Yahoo! Messenger Chat Rooms.
I completely agree with you Ferrisobeone!

Can you please tell me where God condemned tatoos? My body is my temple, and my tatoo is just a painting to decorate my temple.
Also, mine is of a dreamcatcher, not everyone has a tat thats hard to understand.
I believe that we all have an opinion, and if some of us choose to express things w/ tatoos or w/ words its our choice.

you seem pretty ignorant since tattoos have been around longer than your whole family honey.
They use them as rituals in tribes. Maybe you are illiterate when it comes to your imagination when it comes to understanding tattoos
