Do you have any advice on how to deal with collic. we have tried car rides, sitting in car seat on washing machine, pacifiers, sitting in dark room, walking, rocking, burping, gas drops, "white" noises (like from a sound machine), soft music, bundling, and just letting him cry. None of this seems to work for our 1 month old, does anybody have advice. ps... first time parents.

Talk to your doctor about probiotics. They're available over the counter and a recent study found that over 75% of babies treated with them had less crying after 4 weeks. Here's an article: http://www.nutraingredients-usa.com/news/ng.asp?n=73215-biogaia-probiotic-reuteri-colic

My daughter is collicky (sp?) and the Dr. told me to put some very weak, warm chamomile tea in her bottle. I don't know if this would work for all babies, but it worked for Lyla. First time parent here too, and it worked like a charm.

A lot of times Drs. say "colicky" as a last resort diagnosis. It could be GERD. Does your baby arch his back a lot? Act like he has a bad taste in his mouth? Cry a lot? Spit up? Talk to your doctor about GERD. He /she might have bad heartburn and there are things you could do for him/her if it is GERD.

It worked for me, place the baby up in the bed, gently bend his legs toward his tummy, one leg at a time.
give the baby the gas drops your pediatritian recommended. don't lie the baby, wait at leat 30 minutes before you place him flat in the bassinet.
warm wet cloth (you can warm it in the microwave 5 seconds at a time) and place it in the baby's tummy...that may help as well
remember, never warm up the cloth to the extreme as it can hurt/burn the baby...

no pacifers....sucking makes them suck in air which will make the colic worse, keep the baby inside...wind can make it worse....maybe try switching formulas that helped with my son , it didnt take the colic away but the formula made him less gassy so it wasnt as bad...they warmth from your belly or boobs on the babys tummy helps sometimes and dont get upset it just makes it worse
good luck hun!

Enfamil actually has a Formula for Colic. Talk to your Pediatrician about it, I'm sure she will let you know the scoop.

From what I understand (per my grandmother's advice...she had 3 collicy babies) is to put pressure on the baby's tummy. You could try holding him/her facing forward (with your arm pressing on his belly) or you could lay him on his belly across your lap (your legs will put pressure on his belly).
Honey, I wish you the best of luck in soothing your little one. I assure you that once this period of CrAzIness is over, you'll have your sweet, happy baby back.

Try soy or lactic free formula, and special bottles to reduce gas.
