In approximately a month, I will graduate with from a solid engineering school and with a B.S. in Computer Science with a 3.95 GPA, yet I have not the slightest clue what to do thereafter.

Clearly, it is too late to apply to graduate school; additionally, from doing undergraduate research and seeing what goes on, I am not entirely sure that going to grad school in computer science is useful.

My peers talk about getting offers for 60k right out of school; nevertheless, working full-time seems like selling my soul at market value, and I hesitate at the prospect of becoming a commodity/asset/liability.

First of all take a month off (if you have the means to support yourself, of course). Relax and clear your head. It seems like you want to go to grad school (but you are not sure); a little real world experience before grad school will take you a long way. It will also help you to see that classrooms and labs at the grad school is way better than your cubicle. Search for companies where you 'll get an exposure to a variety of projects ('variety' is the key word here). Consulting firms are ideal for these type of work. I bet within 6-8 months you will decide to apply for grad school and perhaps have a range of research topics for your master's thesis. I graduated last year with a 3.8 GPA in electrical engineering and I am going to start school coming fall.
Good luck Dude.

That last paragraph is excellent thinking. You are young and you will be successful, but you should think twice about becoming just another full-time adult. What comes after that anyway? Marriage? Kids? Mortgage?

This is my two cents.

Go be a nomad for awhile. Do some seasonal work here and there. Move around. Travel. Do it while you're young. It will be more expensive and less enjoyable later in life. Live it up. You won't regret it. I know because YOU wrote this:

"working full-time seems like selling my soul at market value, and I hesitate at the prospect of becoming a commodity/asset/liability."

Your 3.95 tells me one thing and your message projects the opposite! Go get a job and continue your education till you find out what you want to do and what the capitalistic jungle we live in is all about!

I'm not going to just start rambling off ideas, because I don't know what you like. I can positively tell you, though, that you should defiantly pray to God about all this. He has a perfect plan for your life. He will help you. Realize that sometimes you have to wait to see where God takes you next. He knows best and will help you through everything. I pray you will seek God and trust in Him. Even if you don't believe in God, he loves you more than anyone will ever understand. He's watching over you and wants to listen to EVERYTHING (even the small things). God really really cares about you!!! Trust in God and he'll show you the way!
I PROMISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
