There is definitely something going on that makes them do that. I hate to say it but once I took my daughters to the circus and a guy walked in front of us that was totally covered in tattoos and piercings. I couldn't help but stare and thought "If you say what are you looking at? I'm going to tell you that you are crying out for attention so get over it!"

Honestly i think the addiction would be more for the attention.
