It is a telemarketer. They are using automatic dialers and when the computer calls your house it may disconnect or keep you on hold (sometimes unknowingly) if there are no open reps to take the call. Next time hang on for a little bit to see if somebody answers the call and tell them to put you on their do not call list.

Happened to me too, also get calls and no one answers when i say hello. Also computer generated calls and there is a message telling me my number was picked and i won a free trip to Flordia. Its really annoying.I don't think these calls should be allowed by the telephone company, there must be something they can do to stop these unwanted calls.

Sounds, to me, like you have a stalker or someone that wants to talk to you or someone at your residence but is afraid to say anything. I get the same calls around 2am so I know it's not a telemarketer

I don't know but sometimes I get it also. In some areas you can actually get what is called 'privacy act' through you phone provider. It's where a person who has a blocked or private number can't get through to your phone unless they say their name or unblock their number.

Ugh, yes, it happens all the time. I always thought it was telemarketers, the ones with auto-dial. Maybe they had their mouth full when I answered or something. . who knows. It annoys the crap out of me.

Because they made MANY calls at the same time....as soon as there is a connection, the other lines go off.

ahhh, someone is checking on you, simple as that, anyone can go in, and change the setting so caller ID or number does not appear

maybe it's a protected number. not private, cause i think you can call those back. but i guess it leaves no trace of who the call is from.
and i have no idea why the person keeps hanging up on you.

yes, it happens to me too. I think it's automatic phone calls dialed by a computer.
