Ok, what about the story the NY Times ran about the Navy female who was supposedly raped in Iraq.
The Times had contacted the Pentagon for more information, then gave them one day to reply.
The Pentagon , while not having all the information, did reply that they had no record of that Female Sailor ever being deployed to Iraq.
The Times went ahead with the story anyway.
The female sailor had never been deployed to Iraq, she was stationed on Guam.
After the times was forced to retract their story, their excuse was, " well the sailor believed she had been in Iraq "
.
As to Michael Moore, in his documentary he stated that there was no 1-800 toll free number to call to report abuse of the Patriot Act.
There wasn't a 1-800 toll free number,
There was a 1-866 toll free number to call to report abuse of the Patriot Act.
Michael Moore knew this, and included that segment anyway, thus misleading viewers into believing there was no toll free number to report abuse of the patriot Act.

Michael Moore alone gives us many lies. I don't have time to track them all down, there are so many:
Doctored a headline and called it real (in Farenheit 9/11)
Doctored a headline about Willie Horton (Bowling for Columbine)
Took a letter to the editor from a newspaper and called it a news article (9/11)
Lied about the number of children of Congressmen serving in Iraq (9/11)
Lied and said he had made "not a dime" (from 9/11) (he has repeated this lie many times)
Lied about a Gore rally calling it a 'victory' rally when it occurred before the polls had opened (9/11)
Lied about whether the recounts that Gore requested would have led to a Florida victory (9/11)
Lied about the amount of time Bush spent on vacation his first 8 months in office
Lied in several different ways about the Aug 6 2001 presidential daily briefing
Lied about the famous Saudi family departures after 9/11, specifically: they only left after general air traffic resumed; they were indeed asked detailed questions before leaving, etc.
Lied about bin Laden family money being invested in Aramco
Lied about the Saudis "owning 7% of America"
Lied about Saddam Hussein "never having threatened the US"
There are quite a few more documented lies, but I'm tired of typing Moore's lies.
By the way, don't confuse me with a Bush supporter. It's just I don't like being lied to by either side.
" That’s because handguns are TOTALLY banned. ..the Canadians have done it." (lied to the press)

Not including clowns like Moore or the Hollywood rabble, the professional press rarely actually lies. Lies are too easy to catch. What they do is to only report things as headlines that agree with their agenda disproportionately. This is classic propaganda and they are very good at it.
Now politicians, that's another matter. "I take full responsibility" - Reno; "I never inhaled" - Clinton 232826; "I was not present when talk of assassination occurred" - Kerry, etc, etc, etc.
