Yet another stitches question. It's been 3 wks since I had my baby, and i know the stitches are still there atleast some of them. Right on the inside of my vagina where the stitches are closing the cut, it is hard, not elastic like before. Is this normal? How long did you take to heal b4 sex and other activities?

The hardness you feel is scar tissue forming where the stitches are starting to heal. As time goes by, the tissue will become more elastic again and you can help this along by doing kegels.

If I remember correctly, we were intimate again 4 -5 weeks after my deliveries - I've had three babies so far. It just depened on how I felt each time.

I had an episiotomy with my sons birth (he was 10.5 lbs)... it felt and healed fine, and I was back to my normal routine (walking, climbing stairs, etc) within a week. I healed really fast, and never had any burning or anything. The harder spot you feel is probably scar tissue- like when you cut your finger, the scar feels different than the rest of your skin. 3 weeks is totally normal for what you are describing. And I know drs say its a no no, but we had sex about 9 days after my episiotomy- we were really slow and careful, and had no issues with it at all... maybe I'm just lucky, but my episiotomy healed wonderfully- which I credit entirely to having a great OB GYN. :)

I had a very hard time healing after my first. It was a few months before we had sex. Use lubricant (Astroglide) and honestly it hurt with intercourse until I gave birth the second time, I guess being re-cut got rid of whatever healed wrong. If it continues I would see a Gynocologist, because something was wrong with the way I healed the first time, and the delivering doctor kept telling me it was normal, they were 25 months apart, it is not normal to hurt with sex for that long.

They say wait 6 weeks, but after my first son, and having a 3rd degree laciration stichted up - i only waited 2 1/2 weeks. I took a couple percocets before hand but i still did it and it really did not hurt tooo bad and the stitches did not bust.
