prep stands for preparatory, and it means to get you ready to do college work. It is the equivalent of high school, but way more expensive.
A finishing school is a place where women of the upper classes go to get the proper "finish" put on them, like charm school; you learn manners and grooming and fashion, but I don't think much academic.

A university-preparatory school or college-preparatory school (usually abbreviated to preparatory school, college prep school, or prep school) is a private secondary school designed to prepare a student for higher education. Some schools will also include a junior, or elementary, school. This designation is mainly current in North America.

A finishing school is a type of private school for girls that emphasizes cultural studies and prepares students especially for social activities. The name reflects that it follows ordinary school and is intended to complete the educational experience. It may consist of an intensive course, or a one-year program. The course fee of a finishing school is without exception highly expensive, and as such it is traditionally the preserve of the aristocracy and the social elite. In the 20th century, girls often attended a finishing school instead of going to university. However now that much more emphasis is placed on academic education for girls, finishing schools are less popular than in the past.

A finishing school focuses on developing a range of academic and social skills. Programs typically include subjects such as languages and communication, interpersonal skills, etiquette, and social skills; but also home management, cooking, floral art, table decoration and many others.

A finishing school is a place where you learn how to act..how to stand, walk, talk properly. They teach you how to eat food properly, how to sit at a desk or at a table properly. They teach you how and what you should wear for clothes.

A prep school is kinda like a school that you have to pay to go to. They are just like elementary, middle, and high schools. They have higher rates of students going off to college.
