I like the movie the way it is. Letting Pyle live would eliminate one of the best scenes in the movie where he kills himself. The others die so late in the movie that it wouldn't add much difference by letting them live. Lt. Dan makes some interesting ideas though. Pyle was such a weirdo, he could've had some hilarious moments in real combat. That'd be worth watching.

I think Private Pyle could've been a riot in combat. He'd either join the North Vietnamese or do something outrageously stupid and get the Medal of Honor out of a misunderstanding of why he did it.
