Bush IS guilty of "high crimes and misdemeanors." The U.S. Constitution declares that treaties signed by the U.S. become part of the law of the land. By violating treaties the U.S. had signed, George Bush violated the law of the U.S. Even if Congress, 100% of the voters, and God had approved the violation, Bush would still be responsible for what HE did. He wants to be the Decider, he should take the heat for his decisions.
An impeachment trial will BEGIN to mend the damage doen by U.S. violations of international law and treaty, and the damage done to our own Constitutional system by the campaign of Cheney et. al. to create an Imperial Presidency. Using the powers of impeachment is a legitimate way to re-establish the balance of powers, when an executive runs away with the government.
I hope to God it will also work to reverse the hideously unamerican notion that human beings have only the rights that a government GIVES them!
But few of our Congresscritters will call for impeachment until they know that a majority of their voters will back them. The only way they know that is by 1) calls and letters; 2) polls; 3) the media.
The media aren't going to give any attention to impeachment until they know that advertisers will pay for air time during impeachment coverage. Advertisers won't pay for air time during impeachment coverage until they know that a profitable audience will be watching. The only indicators that media and advertisers have to go by to judge how big the audience for impeachment is, is other media, and polls.
Whoever controls the polls controls the politics. You saw that in the run-up to Iraq. At first, a majority of people were against the invasion. As time went on and most media kept saying that a majority supported the invasion, it was eventually true.
You can't fool all of the people all of the time, even when you use statistics, and when there was enough public dissatisfaction with the war, the media hopped on the bandwagon going the other way. There is a growing call for impeachment from the grassroots level, from individuals and city councils and state legislatures. When it reaches a tipping point, the media will jump on the bandwagon, and then a majoritiy of citizens will have always been for it.

Well, you are just too easy to refute. First, you have no Constitutional right to privacy, none at all. You won't even find the word privacy in the document. Poverty? America has been enormously successful economically for over 20 years now since the Reagan Administrations changes in the tax code. Anyone living in poverty today is doing so as a matter of poor choices, not because there has been no opportunity. And as for your laughable articles of impeachment, Congress OK'd the invasion of Iraq, in fact John Kerry and Clinton and Byrd and the whole anti-war crowd made floor speeches on the dangers posed by Iraq before the war. That's why they can't be trusted with presidential power, because they don't MEAN anything they say, they say whatever they perceive to be politically expedient at the time.
Veto that.
And to Julie above, you are exactly wrong. Congress only can declare war, not the President. YOU need to learn YOUR basics honey.

Sarah Palin is an amateur compared to George W Bush. Sarah Palin has already demonstrated she is as incompetent as George W Bush, but she would abuse her power in different ways than George W Bush. Besides, George W Bush would have made sure that Trooper Wooten had an unfortunate "accident" where there were no witnesses like in the cases of J Clifford Baxter or Margie Schoedinger. Clearly Sarah Palin is quite sloppy.

Quite possibly because "abuse of power," per the Constitution, is not grounds for impeachment. If you were to actually read the document (quite fascinating, really, and very enlightening), you would learn that it says that a public official may only be impeached if he has committed "bribery, treason, or other high crimes and misdemeanors." Nowhere does it say "abuse of power" or "because the party in control of the Congress bears a deep and paralyzing detestation of him." By the way, I wasn't aware that poverty was growing -- I thought employment, for example, was at a near-record low, and going lower.
Questions like this don't earn you anyone's respect. If you want to fume on and on about how you detest the President, start up a blog. Don't waste Yahoo!'s bandwidth.

Bush is a 100% criminal, and our tax dollars, SSI benefits, and whatever governmental funded money america has is going to this unjust war. why is Bush still in office? theres a couple reasons...one is all that green paper he got stashed in from all them corporations, the CIAs, and this war. The war is basically all profit. And so what if the middle east got weappons of mass destruction? so do we! ever heard of Area 51, and why its so TOP SECRET? all our destructive devises are over there. If we quit messin with the Middle East, im sure the WORLD will be a lot more peaceful. also, in this country alone, look around...noticed how the rate of which gas prices rise is a lot higher than normal? Slavery was never abolished here, that i can definitely tell you. it sadly still exists, and the raccism shown by the government and the righties who support it is obvious. I hope you know they changed the legal definition of torrture here in america too. now, the government says, "anything without the extent of an organ failure is legal tortur"...its SICK! also, my friend was tellin me how one of her friend's, a Palestenian Muslim here in the US, was taken away from her family, and shipped off to some parking lot bench to sleep on in Venezuala. she had a lil daughter, in elementary school, and a son who was in high school, and a husband. the 2 kids are legal american citizens, and their mom was workin on gettin her green card, but their was a "techical error"....ok, so because she (the Palestenian woman) was doin the right thing, she was separated from her family, no criminal record, and they were gonna deport her back to Palestine, but she was terrifyed and said if she went back, shed die. so they sent her off to Venezuala, where she dont know anybody, and shes homeless as hell. also, here in america, the homelessness, at least in my city i know, but the issue of livin off the streets is way worse than it ever was. we need to do sumthin about all this...NOW!

Stupid as he is, I don't think his moral conscience will compell him to impeach himself. Somebody has to start the ball rolling.

what abuse of power? you must have forgotten that congress gave him the right to go into Iraq. The constitution is very clear on what power congress has and what power the president has. Military matters falls under the rights of the commander in chief. Congress cannot and must not make military decisions. By the way, what do you base you "opinion" that poverty is growing in this country?

Jared C- just to clarify, Congress cannot declare war. Only the executive branch has the power to do so. Or else we would be out of Iraq by now.
Review basic American Govt, ever heard of checks and balances?
And Bush has not been impeached because of the misguided 32% of Americans that still believe he's doing a good job.

I 100% disagree with what he is doing Why?/ Because he is killing many people for his own benefit. To fight daddy's battle. You know it amazes me how naive some people can be to believe he is doing this for you. He is not doing it for his country he is doing it for his daddy. Killing the amount of people he has killed under false pretenses is a very good reason to impeach his sorry a**. There were no weapons of mass distruction, he had no intrest in going after bin laden all he wanted to do was go after Saddam because Saddam went after his daddy. He will stay away from Bin Laden because it would hurt his oil plans. He is a joke and a travesty. Also 5 years ago when Saddam was captured he said Mission complete. If the MIssion was Complete why will he not take the men out? Because he is a flat out idiot. He uses his position to bully people around (IE vetoing withdrawing the troops. ) This is getting out of hand and not only does he need to be impeached but he needs to be put up on charges of terrorisim because he is no better then what he calls the enemy!
He is also horrific in the sense that he uses any tragedy to buil himself up. Look at Virginia Tech he went there in what was supposed to be a sympathetic visit but still managed to hurt thousands of greiving people by declaring that he believes that people still have the right to bear arms. He never knows when to shut up and if his advisors wrote his speech for him that day that alone should tell what what a moron you elected!
