It is a movie about a girl, about 12 maybe, who, I think, wishes she was a boy, and the next morning she finds out her wish came true. It's not "Just One of the Guys" or "Help! I'm a Boy". I want to say it has the words; strange or happened, in the title.

...thinking back about mid-80's, I seem to recall a little comedy hitting the theaters, entitled "Something Special", and the plot pretty much followed exactly as you described; I'm pretty sure it starred John Glover and Patty Duke as the parents, as well as some kid who look very much like a young Seth Green, as well.
UPDATE (a couple of minutes later): Wait!!! I found something on VH1.com (check out the webpage), and it looks like this is the film you're looking for; regrettably, it appears that this film has yet to see release on DVD (though it did make release on VHS tape...I have one!!!).
