Yes, it's normal for sliders to shed their scutes. Some turtles grow and show growth lines between the scutes when they grow which is the new growth, but sliders are amongst those that shed the old scutes when they grow. If your turtle has a good uvb lamp and a good basking area this will aid in a healthy shed each time there is a growth spurt.

the situations seem positive what you may want to do to advance is confirm you're completely cleansing the tank through eliminating all water a minimum of one per week and rinsing your pebbles you ought to purchase a syphon for some pound which could help you do this. also i have a tendency to sparkling their shells per week using a mushy toothbrush. his shell might want to be a common shade both mine were given darker, and one went a very diverse shade n they are both positive, the shed because they enhance a lot contained in the first 12 months i might want to say tho they seem slightly small mine the position that length when I were given them and the were 3 months previous through the time they were a 12 months the were about 5 inches wish this permits

Yes, this is shedding. Your turtle is growing. If you've had it for a year and haven't seen this happen yet, the proper care hasn't been provided for your turtle. This is nothing to worry about, it's normal.

If the peels are paper thin, translucent, and the tissue under it is like the rest of the shell (good color, no smell, no crud, etc.) it is just normal shedding.

Otherwise it may be a form of shell rot.
