I don't really understand political classifications.
I used to consider myself a conservative, but I'm not really completely into the whole "traditions" thing.
Fiscally, I'm completely conservative. I'm probably the biggest promoter of capitalism ever, I like free trade, and I'm all for complete business rights. I think businesses should have the right to do as they please, hire and fire who they want, etc.
Morally, I'm against abortion, gay rights, and also legalizing drugs (simply because we would pay for it in crime rates and such.) But I think pornography, prostitution, etc. should be completely legal.
Basically, I think the individual should have the right to do as they please, without infringing on others' rights (which I think is what abortion is--you're killing a baby.)
Does this make me a libertarian? A neoliberal?
Please explain. Thanks (:

You guys are showing me an error in my philosophy: legal prostitution would bring on more STDs and abortions.
So scratch legal prostitution. I never really thought about the effects of it enough.

CONGRATS!!
You are mostly coservative! Welcome to the club!
I'm glad to be of assistance!
The legalizing prostitution thing is very out there, though. Thats VERRY liberal, to the point of WACKY liberal (do you know how much that would do for STDs like AIDS?) I'm all for porn (well, you know what i mean. Being legal) but the flesh trade, not so much.
P.S everything else you said, besides the porn and prostitution, is conservative

I don't know what a neo-liberal is, I've only seen that classification mentioned here. I wouldn't say you're a libertarian because many of them are pro-choice because they don't believe in the Government having the power to tell citizens what they can do with their bodies.
You sound conservative to me with a few little twists (legal porn and prostitution) added.
Do you realize that prostitutes get more abortions than the average citizen? I'm not sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if the same were true of porn stars.
The Enron Scandal of the late 90s and the Savings & Loan Scandals of the 1980s are examples of what happens when "businessess have the right to do as they please"
Thousands lost their pensions and life savings because of those scandals.
Teddy Roosevelt, one of our greatest presidents once said that if we allow Big Business to do as they please they will enslave the people of the United States.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for fiscal responsibility in our government and limiting or even eliminating unnecessary social programs, but giving private business unlimited power is kind of like putting all the foxes in charge of all the henhouses.

You're definately more conservative. I am a moderate conservative. I am mostly a right-wing thinker on most issues EXCEPT I am pro-choice and all for gay rights. An pornography is already legal. But prostitution is not, and nor should it ever be. I'm glad to see you withdrew that statement.
I would also like to welcome you to the sane-thinking, non-extremist Republican party. You'll be receiving your handbook in the mail shortly.
Always remember this though. Unfortunatley our country has become way too focused on the bi-partisn split of everything. Always vote for who and what YOU agree with, no matter what party it, or he or she "represents."

You are a Republican (Yea!)
Capitalism, Free Trade. Solid Republican Platform
Morals, Solid Republican Platform.
Libertarians, believe in freedom period, legal drugs, prostitution, Etc.
and Liberals, believe in Legal drugs, prostitution, as well but are for government control of most sectors of society, education, health care, retirement, Prices of products that companies sell, High taxation.
I have a lot of libertarian friends and at least we agree the Liberal is the true threat to the nation.
So Sayeth the Impaler!

You are in conflict with all 3 dogma's.
Bill Schneider, a CNN analyst, concluded from their poll that the more educated people are, the less they believe in the connection between 911 and Saddam Hussein. The lower the education level of the polled person, the more likely they are to believe that there exists a connection. The least educated are the young, the high school students who are cannon fodder for the war in Iraq. It is no accident that the nation's political leaders invoked “911” and “Saddam Hussein” as often as possible. The media deliberately channeled the fallacious connection directly to the people and without question. Bush and Cheny's message was clear: “You are either with us or you are against us”. And we are going to fight the “war on terror” in Iraq. Never mind that Iraq had nothing to do with 911. Never mind that were no weapons of mass destruction. There were, however, plenty of Bush and Cheney weapons of mass distraction. What did matter was that the people internalize the connection between Iraq and 911. And, internalize the connection, they did. Critical thinking skills go a long way in recognizing and rejecting state-corporate propaganda. Unfortunately, critical thinking is not a strong skill outcome of the US education experience.
There is, however, a far more prevalent, but little recognized, propaganda mantra for our ever-less-free society. This mantra has grown in frequency to such a proportion that it has become an acceptable, yet unconscious, constant background drumming in our daily lives. The drumming is the never-ending message that trumps all others. It is what neoliberal ideology cherishes above everything. It is, for the greed capitalist system, the reason why humans exist. The message is that one, and only one, activity defines us as valued members of capitalist society, that the only thing that matters is the exchange of Capital. The neoliberal mantra is that the monetary transaction is the basic element of everything that is good. And that, if we do not participate in the exchange of capital, we are evil doers, enemies of the Capitalist State.

You say individuals should have the right to do as they please without infringing on others' rights. Why then are you against gay rights? How does gay people enjoying the same rights and benefits as you infringe on your rights?
You are what most people are - self absorbed. Whatever pops into your head is OK as long as you can label it. Never mind if it is consistent, fair, or actually makes sense.

you are a right leaning normal person if you like the war you are a neocon. The abortion thing is often used to divide cons and libs, Libertarians can be anything thats why they are ineffective they have no real platform just alot of thinking that doesnt appeal to americans who think with their amydgala rather than the frontal lobe. Fiscal believes can be claimed by anyone. Even neocons that shoot 13 $575,000 tomahawks from a single ship can claim to be fiscally responsible.

You, much like I, are an "Independent" with conservative leanings, and a spattering af liberatarianism.
It is good to be a free thinker, too many people just wear blinders and feel obligated to blindly argue for the side of their political party.
