Listen, please. I'm not a Republican. I voted against Bush in the last election. But, the fact is simply this. We should not go flapping off at the mouth about what we're going or not going to do to the rest of the world, like we're teenagers in middle school trying to sound self-important.
Yes. Iraq is a bad situation. But, what kind of Liberal would condemn thousands to die, for a vote? We cannot leave a security vacuum in that country. We have to train their troops and police, and as they bring their units into the field and prove they can do the job, we send our units home. That's what the Iraqis think we're going to do. So, let's give them that, make apologies and say our thank yous, and then come home. There is nothing disgraceful in that. The soldiers will stand for it, and, if we speak clearly to the public of it, I am sure that we will stand for it, too.
We only want to have a clear plan, right? Let's not be slamming the others, and making enemies, when we can be calm and cooperative with one another. I, as an independent have seen so much escalationary language on this site, that I am seriously starting to believe some of you Liberals and Conservatives have an extreme need for a psychiatrist. If you guys could print this stuff you're writing out, and save it, you would be appalled in ten years. This isn't how civilized people talk to each other! We need to calm down and be Americans, people!

It is my belief is, that the US will never decidedly win a war again. As with Vietnam, reporters and media were allowed in to film every speck and detail of a war; a reality that most of us don't understand without having served in it. We forget the purpose of it amid the seemingly endless stream of bad news.
We Americans, I believe, are noble people, but we don't really understand how complex things like war can get. I think we get frustrated and begin looking for band-aid, silver bullet solutions because we want our consciences relieved and want the suffering to stop. We forget that it almost never the best solution. Determination, endurance, and will are the characteristics that pulled our nation through troubled times of tyranny, slavery, Nazism, Communism, 9/11, and Katrina. We cannot forget that. I don't like thinking about what our country would be like had our ancestors quit like some of us today want to. The future demands no less of us.
Whether we should be in Iraq is a moot point, because we are already in up to our shoulders. Should we leave, the fragile democracies of Iraq and Afgahnistan will collapse, and leave the entire region in the hands of Iran and Syria, which would probably be a bad thing.
As I type this answer, I don't have to see the page to know there are people calling our President all sorts of names, citing conspiracy websites and what not.
Fact of the matter is: 9/11 would still have happened if Gore were president, the 2006 Hezbollah War would have still happened if Kerry was president, all the turmoil would still be there, we just wouldn't know about it. Remember? The media?
Basically, we kind of have to stay there until it becomes stable enough so that Iran and Syria can be kept in check.
If not, the gas prices you see now would be dirt cheap compared to what they would be under the Islamic Republic of Iran controlling the region. Also, all that oil money could come in handy building a nuclear weapon. The future shouldn't have gas rationing, or decimated cities.

If they admitted the Iraq war situation has been handled as if Dubya was making every single knee-jerk decision himself, they would basically be admitting that they were totally wrong about the war in the first place.
You do know you're talking about an administration that said it was the victims fault when Dick Cheney shot him, don't you?
I hope you're not really expecting them to own up to being wrong, because that's not going to ever happen.

Your misconception is that you see the fact that many republicans feel let down by some of the republican leadership, but you misconstrue that as support for democratic agendas.
Just because I am disappointed in some repub leaders doesnt mean that I dont still think the dem leadership is whacked.

Well, considering we are IN IRAQ RIGHT NOW, we need to look objectively on what steps to take next. There is no democratic plan in place right now to support the government in Iraq, so, for right now the promise is to leave Iraq, and simply... let it die or something. That doesn't sound like a good idea, but it is effective propaganda. We call it politics. I haven't found a Demoncrat yet with a plan on Iraq that is actually comprehensive. In any case we will likely be involved their in many ways for several years... so, don't just eat the bait, think about what they're saying...

Rush and Papa Bill tells them that most of America supports them and they believe it...
many actually believe the only reason they lost is that they were too "liberal"... and they are "cow-towing" to the liberals too much...
so, to answer your first question... for many of them, clearly not...
some do have a clue though... I mean you have guys like hatch and hagel... they are well aware...

Just out of curiosity, why is it that none of the democratic presidential wannabees has any shred of a coherent plan to end the "fiasco"? I mean, they have no clue. All they want to do is cut off the money so that our troops are more likely to run out of everything they need.
