It was inhabited mostly by Paiute and Shoshone. There probably were some Spaniards/Mexicans because the Spanish had colonized the whole Southwest. Towns like Santa Fe were over a hundred years old by 1820. A lot of people forget about the Spanish being in the Southwest and don't realize that there were Spanish cities there that were old when the Pilgrims arrived on Plymouth rock.

"Nevada Indian Tribes"

Koso (This is properly a California tribe, though it sometimes ranged into Nevada.)

Paiute, Northern.(Also called: Monachi, Monozi, Mono-Paviotso, Nutaa, Paviotso, Snake)

Paiute, Southern (Also called: Auōlasús, Chemegué Cuajála, Da-da'-ze ni'-ka-cin'-ga, Diggers,Hogăpa'goni, Kohoaldje, Virgin River Paiute, Nüma, Pa'gonotch, Pah-rú-sá-páh, Snake Diggers, or Ute Diggers, Yabipai Cajuala)

Panamint, (see Paiute, Northern).

Pueblo. (In historic times none of the Pueblo Indians have occupied any part of Nevada, but remains in the southern section of the State testify to former occupancy by these Indians.)

Shoshoni. (The Western Shoshoni occupied northeastern Nevada as far as, and including, Reese River Valley.)

Ute.(The Ute claimed a small part of eastern Nevada.)

Washo (Also called: Wa Sui, Tsaisuma)

utes, paiutes, elements of the apaches, and arapahoes;this would be my guess;although ancient "ogmic inscriptions fro the area around pyramid lake indicate an unwritten and recorded "celtic prescence" and the worship of a god known as "mabo the melodious"...who for all intents and purposes is the "celtic" version of the greek god ,apollo;as he played a turtle shell lyre!!and was the personification of a gifted ,young warrior also gifted in music as was apollo in the greek pantheon!!fishing "tallies" written in ogmic upon ancient boulders show yearly tax assessment and tithing based on thousands of fish caught in that lake's surroundings !!new DNA findings point out the fact that there is little or no direct genetic ties between the "chumash" of the coastal americas from alaska to tierra del fuego in chile and argentina and the "indians " of the northern american woodlands tribes like the tuscaroras, algonquins, abenakis, sioux, cheyenne, choctaws, cree and all of the other tribes!!this being the case ,history needs re-examination on a very thorough and wide-open investigatory nature to assess these sorts of scientific anomalies which point to very different assumptions toward "scientific truths" instead of present theories!!!only one "odd" individual corpse so far shows any even tenative relation to the western "chumash" genome as these "new findings" are being put forth for scientists to assess culturally and geographically in a anthropological sense!!also in nevada ancient "duck decoys" of a very sophisticated variety were found in a cave overlooking a lake which no longer exists across the mountains from the calico ghost town on the california side of the sierras!!these decoys alone pushed back the dating of humans in the americas from 11,000 to 16,000 years ago by their carbon date assessment!!not much in geological time but with american u.s. goverment only 200 years on this continent a difference of 3000 additional years in previously held theories of man's reaching america seems "telling" and calls for even more radical intervention and study over a wider expectation!!
