i have had cramps on my lower right side for a few hours, it is the 3rd day of my period, i am 12. Is it just normal period cramps or appendisitis? I need to know.

if it is appendicitis the pain will only get worse and it is horrible, stabbing pain. it is hard to even move when your appendix is rupturing. period cramps are bad, but nowhere near to the pain of an appendix rupturing. if it gets worse or doesn't seem like its going away, tell your parents and have them take you to the ER Good luck!!

pain from appendicitis is generally speaking severe enough that you would not question whether or not it was just menstrual cramps. But along with that pain, you would likely have a high fever, nausea, and possibly vomiting. If you feel better when you lay still with a nice warm heating pad on your lower tummy it is cramps, if you do that with appendicitis the pain will intensify.

Doesn't ovulation usually hurt in the back more?

If it's bad enough, I'd get checked for appendicitis.
