Lots of good responses... I don't find it boring at all, but it seems like a lot of people do and I was just wondering why.

ya know. I used to be bored by history as a young person...... but now I am old (kinda history herself LOL) and I really have become interested in history. I find it interesting the way people lived before our time...... My grandmother had no indoor bathroom, and I have a computer and cell phone!!!!!
She had no electricity, or running water... I have a television, and a dishwasher, washing machine, and a light in every room..... Don't be ignorant (not directed to you, just in general)
Take interest in history, and revel in the things you have today!

I'm a history major, so I don't find it boring. I especially love taking classes & reading about the 2 world wars. I think some teachers can make it boring. And if you are stuck in a class learning about an era that doesn't excite you, that can be boring. History is like any other subject, either you have an aptitude for it or you don't. For instance, I hate math, but I know people who love it.

I don't think history is boring! I love it so much I have a Bachelors in it. But, I can see how some people would think it's boring. I think math is boring (and hard) and other people love it. It's all relative. As far as poor answers, I don't answer a whole lot of history questions because I am not doing someone else's homework for them, when all it would take is 3 minutes of research and they could find the answer on their own.

I think that it is so boring because it is something that happend before our time. We never experienced what was going on so we dont have a strong emotion connected with the events. Right now the things that are happining in our age , we can see, feel and we have been apart of. Someday our grandchildren will be sitting in history class wondering what this has to do with getting a decent education. But we a elder will know that what happens today will effect the rest of out lives ,our childrens lives and their childrens lives.

History isn't boring. Textbooks are boring because they take out all the controversial stuff so that school boards and state boards of education will adopt them. That's why some of the people here think they find history interesting as they age. In fact, they just discover real history instead of the "lies agreed upon" version they got in school textbooks as kids.

History is an on going soap opera at a different level and with larger consequences.

Many historians, purposely leave out all the juicy, stuff that makes people uncomfortable, but go deeper and you will find sexual dalliances, lust for another man's wife, theft, murder and all kinds of bad things.

Those things that happen today happened then too and they were the motives behind the actions that determine history.

The one thing we learn from history is that we do not learn from history.

No, history isn't uninteresting - this is purely people who don't rejoice with its value that discover it uninteresting - they are oftentimes the types who want a load of inexpensive stimulation to maintain their their bored little minds centred on some thing else. a boring history instructor does not make the concern uninteresting - upward push above the occasion and picture and study for yourselves. isn't Britney uninteresting? isn't Halo 3 uninteresting? this question is incomprehensible, good?

I think history is boring because its the past and "now a days" people are more interested in the present and the future. I understand that we should be interested in the history and we should like it, so that we dont make the same mistakes, but sadly most dont care. I know theres alot of people on here saying that it isnt boring and that there a major in it but everyones different and they shouldnt be mad that some people think its boring because we're just stating our opinions! anyways. I think history is one of my worst subjects. (that and science) I just dont understand it and cant focus on it, but i think it would be better if they would have thought me in a more interesting way. Like if they would have emphasized the parts needed to know. ok well now im just blabbing..so sorry.. hahaha. but thats why i think history is boring! <3333

I have never been able to understand how anyone can find history boring!! From ancient history in the ninth grade to US history in college, I thrived on reading and trying to understand why peoples acted as they di,d actions which affected many, many people. At any rate, maybe it is because they were asked in school to remember useless facts and dates rather than trying to comprehend the stories of history.. Who knows??

Chow!!
