I am sensitive and let other's comments hurt me. I think about them for some time and take them to heart.

I remember people's impressions of me and feel bad if they don't like me or find fault with me. This includes my parents, ex-husband and ex-husband's family.

What is the best way to overcome this and be strong within yourself?

In my opinion, it's not a matter of becoming less sensitive, but learning how to deal with your sensitivity and to protect yourself against the outside cruelty.

A high level of sensitivity can be a great tool in your life. But if you take everything up like a sponge, you need to protect yourself.

What's important is to find your inner strength. If you find out who you are, and you get more secure of yourself, then others can not get you out of balance as easy. If you know who you are, and when things are not your fault, then you will have less problems if other people say that there is something wrong with you. Find your inner strenght and your own inner truth! It might help to get some professional help, if you have the feeling that you can't do in all by yourself.

An other great help is meditation. This really works, it helps you to let the influence of the outside world go past you instead of through you.

Search on the internet for HSP, High Sensitive Personality. You will find some insight in this subject.

Wish I could tell ya. Comes naturally to me. But here's something I live by that might help. Never ever EVER apologize for you who are or what you want. Ever.

"Just don't give a f***!" No it really sounds like you have depression. Maybe you should get checked out so you can deal with it early.
