a friend of mine once told me that getting a c-section is almost the same as undergoing an appendectomy. personally, i think it isn't. i think women should be respected for being able to withstand childbirth. it is a strength in itself. though my friend refused to believe so and thinks that women, "generally" (and physically), are a weaker sex than men.

It depends on which metrics you are measuring. If you take body proportions into consideration, men tend to be stronger in the upper body, while women seem to be stronger at the core. This might explain why I have no problem with push ups while my wife struggles with push ups; and I have struggles with pilates...but pilates is easy for my wife.

God is fair.
Men are strong in some aspects.
Women are strong in other aspects.
Generally men appear to be stronger physically.
But even physically many women are stronger than most men.
I agree that in the area of childbirth women are made to bear much testing so I vote for women to be stronger.
Just an incidental thought:
Since men have made a mess of the world as we see today
perhaps more women should show them something better.

As a healthcare provider I can tell you that as far as being 'stronger' it applies only to the aspect of 'muscle mass' and things directly related to this. Otherwise.....and this has been researched so many times that people don't generally bother to keep trying to research it......there is little difference. And , of course, there are some women with more muscle mass than some men...so this is really a moot question. One that would be only accurate when applicable to two given individuals and not generalized unto a complete gender of people. (And, NO a c -section is nowhere near as simple as a appendectomy. Trust me , I've seen and assisted with many of either one)

Anytime a man thinks he could go 9 months with a child inside his 'womb', I have to just cringe. In the first place, my husband can't stand any unopened package, and that scares me....when thinking of an unborn child inside him. If men could really feel the 9 months before even having a child, it would change men's ideas on child birth! To actually breath a particular way, to have a child and to expect to have more..........that, I'd enjoy seeing a man do! Men could not withstand the pain, as far as I am concerned. (How often have you been so ill that you could barely move, but, you did everything expected of you, since it needed to be done?). How often has a husband caught the same thing and just stayed in bed.............too ill to do anything, with the same symptoms?

You haven't meet any real men they are physically and mentally stronger than most women. The armed forces in particular.Today's youth may be different than my generations I am 50 and the men seem weaker than the women now. Men are more whinier, lazier, and more likely to be gay so maybe you are right.

Your friend is full of - how can I put it... ignorance in her way of thinking. There is no doubt that the general female body has less muscle mass than their male counterparts. That's because they're the ones who give birth.

In terms of strength, each sex has their advantages. You don't need to be able to knock someone's head off their shoulders to be considered strong. BEING CONFIDENT in yourself is one of the best characteristics I look for in a woman!

there is no doubt that men are in general physically stronger, it's in their genetic code. Women however have their own strengths, they tend to be emotionally stronger, and quite frankly have a good deal more intelligence (don't tell the guys, they like to think they are smarter)
