As far as I am aware Elvis only sang the songs, whereas Lennon wrote the lyrics and the tunes so in that sense Lennon because he did more for the music itself, however if Lennon and Elvis were merely singers of other peoples songs then Elvis as he shaped the generation before Lennon and without Elvis some of the songs that the Beatles made would not have passed the censorship.

I think you have to say that Elvis is the most influential. He was John Lennon's idol, so he influenced John Lennon, and everyone who in turn was influenced by John Lennon. So, that means that his influence can be felt to this day.

True, John Lennon is responsible for a lot of innovation in music, but he was inspired by Elvis in the beginning.

I think Elvis Presley because he sang so many different generes of music! He sang rock and roll, r&b, country, and gospel! John Lennon got a lot of his ideas listening to American artists like Elvis and others!
