Like "Susan" said, I would sign up for e-mail updates, but you can save a lot of time and cover most of the hotels on the strip if you sign up at these two sites. MGM-Mirage and Harrah's hotels make up more than half of the strip properties.

Luxor has an online promotion

PC "PGET21" >You can also use their MVP promotion along with the other and save an extra 15%>But, it's non-refundable<

This is one of my favorite hotels in LV, they don't have the best of anything but it's the best of everything.
http://www.orleanscasino.com
The Orleans web site has "Deluxe, King, Non-Smoking, View) rooms for $160>If you want an awesome panoramic view of the strip ask for rooms on the 15th-19th floors that face East<

http://www.tripadvisor.com rates the Orleans as the #2 best value hotel in the World.

A nice economical hotel on the strip is the Stratosphere. The rates are low because most people don't like the location at the far North end of the strip. You can't walk from "any" hotel on the strip to all of the others anyway so IMHO it does not make all that much difference.

These are sites I use to compare LV room rates
http://www.travelworm.com
http://www.i4vegas.com
http://www.tripres.com

from this site you can access every hotel/casino in LV
http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com "VEGAS INFO" >Hotels & Casinos

If you will "add details" such as, your price range & what amenities you're most interested in, I will try to find exactly what you're looking for. >No, I'm not a TA, just retired and having fun<

We go to LV 2-3 times a year for 2 weeks or more at a time and have for over 20 years, and yes we go "on the cheap".

My advice to you is to pick three or four resorts that you're interested in and sign up to get email promotions. In December I stayed at the Venetian for $99/night which is an incredibly good deal. You'll also be the first to know about specials. The Excalibur is a good deal - cheap rates and good rooms - not fancy but who goes to Vegas to sit in their hotel room? The South Point Hotel and Casino has huge rooms with really nice amenities for a great rate but they're fairly far away from the main part of the strip. I've seen some good deals for the Las Vegas Hilton recently so that's another one to look into. Lots of hotels offer discounts during the summer months because it's so hot in Vegas that people avoid going during that time. Keep checking and be ready to jump when you find the right deal. If I were you, I'd use the hotel's website to book the rooms - not Travelocity or Expedia because if you go through the hotel, you avoid any extra fees that the big travel sites tack on and you can cancel your reservations and rebook if you find a better deal between the time you make the reservation and the time that you go.

Sometimes travel agents can help you find good deals - look for ones that don't charge any fees for booking hotels.

Susan G is right. There has been a backlash by the hotel companies against the discounters, so your best bet is usually to go directly to the hotel website. Research to find your preference of hotels, and check for their website specials, which should show up about 2 months before your date. July is a great time for deals: summer heat keeps travelers away and the room rates drop. A good place to research:

It might surprise you to know, but this British site for visitors has some great rates if you are travelling at the last minute.

They claim to sell hotels cheaper than you can but direct.

They also have rates which you can book up to a year in advance, which are contracted to encourage foreign visitors coming in. Have a look, as the chances are that you'll undercut the local rates [ not in all cases ] for US citizens.

There are no restrictions on who can by, and they have a US customer service desk.

You can sort the results by star rating, location, price and then have a look through the offers behind it.

Can you tell us

1) When you are looking to travel and how flexible are your dates
2) What city / area you are coming from?

One more question, what is your budget?

For those dates check
- The Fitzgerald. Located downtown, not on the strip. $60.00/night (with tax) through www.jetaway.com
- The EconoLodge. On the strip. $69.00 (with tax) through www.choicehotels.com
- BestWestern - three different hotels. Near the strip. ($70/night for one hotel, around $75-80 for the other two. www.bestwestern.com

If you really want to be on the strip, then choose on the last two options. It can be expensive to taxi back and forth between downtown and the strip (though if you have a car, then ignore that statement ;) Enjoy Vegas!

Switchboard.com is a national online phone book. Go to Las Vegas, search hotels and go to their website (links directly)for the best deals.
