I don't think people really understand the consequences of pulling out of the war. Sure, we get our troops back, but you think you're paying high prices for gas now... wait til our troops come home. And then, they'll be begging Bush to do something, like he's been trying to right now, and the troops will have to go right back in. Do people not understand that? I support the war all the way. I'm behind our troops, and the president's decision to not put a timeline on the war.

btw, it's not just about the oil, for those who have criticized me on this. It's about American citizens dying. I dunno about you guys, but I don't want another 9/11. This time, it could be someone I love, or me, or you. If we pull our troops out, what's gonna stop them from following us here? And, what the news people don't report, is that violence has decreased dramatically since the beginning of the surge. So now we need to focus on getting their government up and running, so that maybe one day we can pull out.

For one if your so supportive of Bush then you should already know the man has stated this war has NOTHING to do with oil the majority of our oil does not come from Iraq the only reasons we went there were to 1 look for WMD and 2 free the Iraqi people and second what the hell are you talking about 911 for do you not know Iraq and Afghanistan are two different countries? The Taliban has never been in Iraq so don't use that lame excuse to keep our troops there a deadline SHOULD be set we've done what we set out to do and that is free Iraq from Saddam Hussein now we need a deadline to do what we promised and rebuild what we destroyed so we can turn our focus on finding bin laden and not wasting time in a country that's only hostile because were doing a poor job of what were there to do now don't get me wrong I'm behind the troops 100% and as far as the war (which was declared over in less than a month by the way) i have no opinion sure something needed to be done but do i think we were the ones to do it no i don't so lets just rebuild what we blew pack our bags and go find the man who we set out to find in the first damn place

I have to admit, your question threw me for a loop -- I expected some Bush-hating tirade. Very good, you have made the correct choice. I support the war 100% (always have) because I know what will happen if we leave. Not only will Iraq disintegrate into chaos (which would be completely awful -- really, you think Darfur is bad right now? It would be an absolute picnic!), but the terrorists will take advantage of the country's weakened condition and either hold the government hostage or completely take it over. This will in turn give them solid footing from which to launch attacks around the world -- most of them likely directly or indirectly at the United States.
This scenario would be absolutely nightmarish. Rudy Giuliani was right a few days ago when he said there would be more 9/11s if any of the currently running Democrats are elected -- all you have to do is listen to what they said last night during the debates to know that! That aside, once we finally get someone in there with an ounce of sense and the backbone to try and attack Iraq again, the loss of life will be staggering: again, the terrorists will have solid ground from which to work, with all the resources and tactical advantage implied by such. Meanwhile, our own military will be pathetically slow to react and weak when they do, having been denied adequate resources for several years. We cannot leave Iraq now -- the consequences are far too dire. It's difficult to imagine things getting any worse than they are, it's true, but we haven't even begun to see terror yet, I fear.

I support the war both the reason that we had for going in and the reason that we have for staying. The biggest problem with pulling out is that the country would probably fall apart and then become a fundamentalist government like Afghanistan used to be. Then we will start experiencing terrorist attack unlike what the world has ever seen due to funding from Iraqi oil fields. Also libs don't seem to get that the current plan of the current general in Iraq is working. Violence in Iraq has decreased significantly over the recent months. They are also forgeting about the Kurds who praise the Americans are heroes who liberated thier country from the despotic rule of Sadam Hussien.
Kudos on taking the correct stance.

One of the biggest mistakes people make on both sides of the war debate is to bring up Oil Prices. Current Iraqi oil production is barely functioning at all and is deffinetly not on a level where it can affect the global market much. This is because much of the infrastructure over there has been destroyed by insurgents hoping to prolong the chaos until the US leaves. Whether you think we went to war for oil or not is irrelevant: We aren't getting any from Iraq.
The worst case scenario in Iraq is that post-withdrawal a civil war breaks out and Sunni Al-Queda-allied insurgents win and turn it into the new Afganistan. An Iranian-backed Shiite victory would also be very bad because we would just have to fight them when Iran tries to take over the middle east. Neither of these outcomes help us out at all. That is why the only option is to stay in Iraq until we can stabilize the country and strengthen the government. As bad as it is going to be to fight the war for another 5 years, it's a lot better than the alternatives. Either we let terrorists take over and attack us and our allies, forcing us to go BACK and start over, or let Iran extend it's influence over Iraq and use them as puppets to attack other just as they use Hezbollah. Still think we should leave now?

I don't support the war, but I do support our troops who are there. At this point, we shouldn't focus on who or who does not support the war, we need to focus on the right way to bring our troops back home.
To pull out to soon would be sentencing the Iraq people and our US personnel still there to death. We need a gradual pull out that will not cause the Iraq people as much harm, and get our troops safely home. The fastest way is not the best way to do this.

first you need to look at where we get most our oil and even where we got most of our oil before that so called war begin Canada supplies more oil than Iraq and second they will just go back to fighting amunst theirselve whether we pull out tomorrow or ten years from now it a way of life for them people and the bible says they will always be at war but never lose their land.Third congress doesn't want to pull out they want to ease back and leave. we should have never went over there in the first place and if some people would use a little thing called honesty we wouldn't have.fourth they say that Bush didn't lie that he was lied to well it nice to know that we have a man in charge of our country that doesn't give things a complete checkout before acting on them. Instead waits until hears what he want to so he can have a excuse to do what he wanted to in the first place.

Yep. I am behind it because we had reason to go and we absolutely have to stay until their new government can take care of it themselves. Will they keep killing each other? Yes. Always have, we won't change that. The real question is, have they stopped blowing us up? Well, so far we're good. It makes little difference to any of us how much we pay for a gallon of gas, now or after the war. One gallon of gas compared to an American attack?? I'll pay for the gas.
Someone says you are in the minority. Not so. The fact is, most Americans support staying - especially our soldiers. News, celebs, Dem's, provide most of the opinions to the general public and it seems that more are against than are for staying. But the majority of Americans, who think for themselves, want to get it over WITH victory.

I definitely agree!!!! Finally someone stands up for Bush!! What do you think this country would be like if this war didn't exist???? We would be constantly more in danger to those ******* who hate us and want to kill us just because to them the death of an American is like an orgasm.
People need to pull there head out of there asses and stop being so hypocritical!! They complain because our men and women are going to war, well the draft is NOT in effect and those men and women CHOOSE to go into the armed forces to protect OUR country!
