Be honest, please.

If you truly believe that, then maybe you should receive some counseling. Do you think that maybe liberals are so passionate about their point of view that they actually care about where the country is headed?

I believe it, but it only applies to those on the FAR left. A guess would about 20% of your party, at least.

No. I think most liberals see a need or injustice and want to help. The problem is that many - by no means all - are not really economically minded and don't understand a lot of the reasoning behind the policies the conservatives make. They feel the conservatives are ignoring the social issues when a lot of the time, they are trying to effect change for the greater good. Whether they succeed or not is another issue.

I think of the right as the big picture people, and the left as being more detail oriented. Policies of the right effect change that isn't evident in the lives of all people all the time, but have the best interest of Americans, as a collective, at heart... liberals don't want to see any social injustice and so, sometimes, sacrifice what is best for the many to support a few.

My husband is pretty much right wing. I like to think of myself as a left leaning conservative - which is to say that I personally feel I have more sympathy for social issues than he does.

I think a balance is needed - good thing there are frequent elections in this country... the right goes too far, the left gets in... the left goes too far, the right is back in charge...

I don't think that's what they want, but I think if they got their way on everything, that's what will happen. This is judging by the failures of the types of economic policies they endorse, such as socialism over capitalism. This is judging by the way they want the government to expand its taxbase, but failing to realize that the government can only give what it first takes from us. So most do not want to see the fall of America, but there are a few that openly do. In short, most liberals and conservatives want the best for our country, we just believe in different ways of getting there.

I think that the politicians on top want to see us lose the war. However I belive that most liberals mean well but are just political pawns. Every liberal in charge that I have seen since Carter seem to absolutely suck at national security. Lieberman however seems to be the only exception. So to answer you question no, most of the base is either dumb, unimformed or they subconsciously hate America. There is my honest answer for the first liberal to raise a question that wasn't intended to bash Bush.

The answers that the conservatives here have given scare me so much.

I can't believe anyone would be so against any political group that their mind would distort reality so much. I can't believe it. In this day and age this shouldn't be happening in America. Maybe some people just can't handle a 2 party system.

I agree with Billy, up ahead, actually. The far left is definitely problematic for this country, I don't think anyone in America really wants America to be destroyed. But extremists like those on the far left and those on the far right (many of the people who answered this question and believe anyone left of the middle wants to destroy america) are horrible for this country's health.

Some of them,
Definitely.
But not all. There are a few good liberals left, ones that are good people and good leaders like the past democrat leaders, JFK, FDR, true good men. well FDR I have a thing against JFK and that is the Marilyn Monroe thing but hey look at how he handled the country.

I think that liberals are so narrow minded that they can't see the repercussions of their actions.

If the liberals get their way and pull the troops out of Iraq, and Iraq has a bloody civil war, will the liberals take responsibility for that?

If Iraq is taken over by militant Islamists who use their oil revenues to support terrorism worldwide, will liberals take responsibility for that?

No, liberals never take responsibility for any problems they cause. They don't realize the implications of their thinking. They think we can pull American troops out of Iraq (which is against the wishes of the Iraqi government), and the fighting will stop.... really???

Liberals want to see the fall of conservatism, not America.

I think that Liberals want to see America recreated to their specifications.
And the only way for that to happen is to make the America that we know now cease to exist.
So, in part I guess my answer would be yes.

There is nothing wrong with my mind or my thinking. The passionate point of view the liberals have will indeed by our downfall. They might not want to see America fall but it will be the consequences. This is real, and as for their caring where the country is going we need to actually see it!!

Not at all. The problem that I have with some (not all) liberals is that they don't consider all of the facts before they react. If liberals were pro-active instead of reactive in most situations, then my feelings about them would change. I like to know facts, and not how someone feels about something.
