Witty -- I consider that to NOT be offensive in nature .. and requires quite a bit of thought to pull off a witty remark successfully.
To be sarcastic is different -- I consider that to be more offensive in nature -- a way of 'looking down' at someone or something .. and it is with an intent of meanness.
So for me, I much prefer a 'witty' conversation rather than have to listen to a sarcastic remark (or series) from someone that I know is stuck up and definitely intends to inflict emotional pain on someone.

Sarcasm comes from a Greek word, (can't remember what that Greek word is exactly) that means cutting of the flesh. It's sort of meant to be mean. To be witty is to be clever..like quick humor...so being witty (or not) with the intent to harm/insult is more so sarcasm.

Yes. Witty is clever and funny and not intended to hurt anyone. Sarcasm is humor that is usually made at someone else's expense.

Witty is someone is kinda like outgoing and happy chappy.
Sarcasm is more like a cynical way of answering ppl i.e ppl who say things that sound like a joke but its not theyre actually being serious.

Sarcastic has a negative connotation because it typically is humor at someone else's expense.
Witty is much more playful and innocent.
