If some people consider genital piercings as "genital mutilation"... then should having your ears pierced also be consider a type of mutilation?

If not... shouldn't genital piercings, at least the ones that do not pierce the organ itself but only the surrounding skin, also not be considered "mutilation"?

It shouldn't be considered mutilation if it doesn't effect sensation and function. As far as I know, no one has gone deaf getting their ears pierced.

Besides, female genital mutilation effects the way women urinate and menstruate and give birth in addition to robbing her of the ability to experience the big O.
