Are there any other main points besides the second amendment and the fact that people die? Please do not tell me how dumb I am for supporting gun control laws... I dont need people to try and change my opinion... I am wondering about other reasons besides the fact that the second amendment is meant for militia reasons and the fact that many people die, so that i can get a full understanding

the second amendment was written to give the right to from a militia. the concept being every one would come at a time of need bring their own gun. And the right to keep and bear arms is the only reason that the Americans were able to brake a way from England. If you read the whole story-amendment you will see that it gives the people the right to resist an unfair government or Army. This means private ownership is a must be for the second amendment to mean any thing at all. these people used the same gun to kill deer, bear, Injun's, Red Coats, Frenchmen during the French and Indian War. These guns were the assault weapons of that day and these guns were privately owned! Try reading some history. Until the civil War started half the guns used if not more were those of private persons not soldiers and were not supplied by the government. I have a 1863 Zuavae that was made for a Great uncle during the Civil War : PRIVATELY he was with the first Vermont Unit.

I can give you reason for the absence of gun control legislation and I won't even use the reasons you mentioned. The main reason is because it decreases crime dramatically. Just think of who gun control actually targets. It is the law abiding citizens because criminals that are going to commit a crime don't care about breaking a gun control law. Not only that but guns are one of the few things that actually makes people equal. Just think of a 200 pound man that is going to rape a 100 pound woman. Unless the woman is armed, she doesn't stand a chance. I heard someone mentioned Virginia tech. Since no one searched his stuff on a continual basis if he was intent on doing what wanted to do then the laws won't stop him.
Again I know you wanted to hear from the other side but those are the real reasons why gun control doesn't work.

There are no rational reasons for gun control. If you restrict the guns from responsible law abiding people then the only people who will get guns are bad people and they will always find a way to get them and use them. If someone had a gun at Virginia Tech then there would not have been as much carnage.

listen you guys, that law was put in our constitution for a very specific reason,,,,,if you don't know that reason,,you should think about it for a while, "the right to bare arms" is to give the "power" to the people. if we ever got a crazed loony in the white house, that wanted to rule with an iron fist,,,,WE have the power to overthrow,,,power to the ppl,,that's what its all about. A few lunatics have made ppl scared, but we can change that if we really want to,,just like dealing with anything else that should not be tolerated

To provide free access during employment to career burglars, perhaps?
To leave our most vulnerable without defense against the strong and criminally minded?
Reasons like that?
