this is going to sound random, but it always works for me.
-take a long hot bath and eat 2 or 3 bananas. i dont know why, but eating bananas really helps releive cramps, along with the heat of the bath. the pain should drastically reduce for at least 6 hours.
i feel ya; it sucks being a girl when it comes to this :p

In addition to a heating pad you can also try a hot water bottle. For medication you can try stuff like Tylenol or Midol. Another thing I tried that I found helpful was to increase the level of iron during that time by eating things like spinach, raisins, and peanut butter (if not allergic to peanuts of course).
If the cramps are so bad that you can't function then you need to see your dr to see if they can help you to figure out what is going on.

Buy herbal teas at the grocery or health food store. Look for a brand called "Traditional Medicinals" or anything the health food store clerk recommends. Traditional remedies are raspberry leaf, dandelion leaf and chamomile. You'll be surprised how well herb teas can work.
Also, you can try a little bit of reflexology on yourself - try massaging the inside and outsides of your heels, covering the area from the anklebone to the sole of the foot. Use a fairly firm pressure, the area may be tender.
Hope you feel better!

Haha, I'm right here with you hun! This is what I do every month and it's the only thing that helps:
I take two midols (they're the only pills that work for me), grab a heating pad, a cup of hot pepermint tea and lay down with your feet up against the wall so they're above your head, breath through your nose and out your mouth. It helps if you have your favorite movie, magazine or girlfriend on the phone...good luck..wish me the same.

When I'm going to start my period or am on it I take 2 midol pills in the morning so that I won't have cramps. You should take the pills in the morning before cramps can come later in the day. Another thing is to lay down with your feet elivated and have a heating pad on your lower stomach.

There are many options to treating the cramps if you don't want to take any asprin. You can either place a heating pad on your stomach for a while and the cramps will go away. Another thing is to go to the local pharmacy/drug store and buy Therma Care HEating wraps. They are like a heating pad but without the cord. Just place it on your stomach for eight hours and go about your normal day.Don't drink any water because it can cause even more bloating than you already have.

Start taking motrin several days before your period-my daughter suffered with bad cramps and the Dr gave her motrin and it did not work-she told him it didnt and he told her not to wait till her period and the cramps but to start taking several days before she expects to get her period and this did help.
