Don't listen to the guy that tells you that you should douche. Women shouldn't "smell" down there to begin with. If they do, it's usually the sign of an infection and douching will just make the infection worse by forcing it higher into your reproductive tract which can potentially cause PID (pelvic inflammatory disease) that can cause scarring and infertility. That "stale fish" smell that some women talk about is indicative of Bacterial Vaginosis which is a vaginal infection that needs to be treated Douching is no longer a recommended practice because of this. If there's a smell, get checked by the doctor. If there's no offensive odor, just washing with a mild soap on the outside of your vulva is enough. Like the other poster said, the vagina itself is self-cleaning.

Yes, that's just another sign of your hormones changing. At the beginning of your cycle, the mucus or discharge(whatever term you prefer) should be dry, then in a week or two it becomes thin and sticky and clear, the next week by the time you ovulate the mucus should be very thick and white up until your period. If you want to double check me, just google it, i actually did a couple of days ago, and that's how i found out about the changing discharge......

I would recommend talking to your dr to see what they think could be going on and also about suggestions on how to deal with this in the mean time.
In the mean time you can try upping the levels of iron during that time by eating things like spinach, raisins, and peanut butter (if not allergic to peanus of course) to see if that helps slow some of this heavy flow down.

This happens to me too sometimes, right before my period starts. It is just a discharge, but don't worry you are not alone =)
They sell panty liners at the store. I know playtex makes them, as well as many other companies. They are very thin, and comfortable, so you don't feel them. Therefor, you can wear them everyday.

Try wearing a pad or tampon with a larger absorbency...if you have extremely heavy periods I would consult a doctor about it.

don't worry. it's just discharge which is very normal. panty liners are helpful. if it is very heavy and you are still concerned your gyno or regular doctor will have no problem helping you.

Use panty-liners or pads. It happens. I don't know why it does, but it happens.
