If so, what time period was it in and why did they worship him?

First Question: Worship? No. But a cautious admirer, yes.
Second Question: It is hard to find an actual date of beginning because so much has been destroyed by Christians.

I'll quote from the Asatru Folk assembly:
"WHEN DID ASATRU START?
Asatru is thousands of years old. Its beginnings are lost in
prehistory, but it is older than Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, or
most other religions. The spiritual impulses it expresses are as
ancient as the European peoples themselves - at least forty thousand years, and perhaps much older."

I would say around the begining of 2007. Loki has always fascinated me. He is the god of fire and more importantly, he changes things for the better.

Unfournately when christianity came, the chrisians related Loki to Satan all because of his acts. They don't realize Loki did some things for the good of the world, so things wouldn't stay the same forever, thus no lessons being learned.
I don't know if worship is the right word.

I picture Loki has a blonde haired/blue eyed man. But that could change with each follower.

ps: i don't bleieve in ragnarok.

I don't but I do know people who were once in the SCA and who branched off to start a Norse group. Several of the members worship Loki. Norse/Vikings were about 750 A.D. through about 1400 A.D. They went everywhere: Europe, Western Asia, the Middle East, North America. The Icelandic Language is very close to Old Nordic. Trivia: William the Conqueror was one of them--a Viking!! They didn't wear horned helmets either. (Sorry, I'm sleepy.)

We love Loki in my house. We are Swede's . Loki was never really worshipped. He was more a elgend of folklore with many stories. The only Norse god that was worshipped in a traditional sense was Odin.

I would think, since he's a Norse god, that some folks from that part of the world honored Loki at one time (if not still).

Do some research on it.

Time of the vikings 800-1200.

As for dictionary refrence,

Loki killed balder the god of peace. And then Thor killed Loki, all playing a roll in Viking expansion.

There is no evidence that anyone ever worshiped Loki.

Yes, like I said, they are typically called Lokeans. It's more of a modern day happening, as there were not historical cults of Loki.

Probably not a good idea, unless you want chaos loose in you life. Although, I did once have a dog that when I was married my then-husband and I named Loki. He is (ex took him, it was understood to be his dog, even though he showed up as a stray) a huskie, and as a northern dog, he needed a northern name.
