I just read a very scary article where a three year old little boy was playing in a ball pitt at McDonalds, when he got out there was a whelp on his back side, the boy died a little while later of a drug overdose from a broken off hyperdermic(herione) needle in the ball pitt.
One other article said that a boy was playing in a ball pitt at a local Burger King, he also died from multiple snake bites. When the restaurant emptied the ball pitt there was a den of coral snakes in there.
As horrific as this was to read, I just had to pass this on. It stated that they hardly ever clean those ball pitts, the have feces and vomit and other unmentionable things in there. Parents please be ware

Although I don't have any kids (I'm in 8th grade), if I did, I sure wouldn't let them play in a ball pit. Even though my mom let my brother (now 11) and me play in the ball pits when we were little, looking back, that was really gross. Some little kid could have had an accident or thrown up in the pit and no one knew. Or worse, there could even be needles or snakes like you said. I was still able to hide under the balls in the pit when I was 6 or 7. If a 1st grader can hide under them, so can who knows what. I'll remember not to let the kids that I babysit for go into those pits. Thank you so much for sharing. You very well may end up saving a little kid's life by warning their parents of the dangers.

The ball pit at our local McDonald's was removed a long time ago, but it still has one of those jungle gym tunnel play structures. I used to let my kids play in it until one day when my daughter found a big ol' pile of poop inside!! And when I told the manager, he sent a young kid to clean it up, and all he did was get some paper towels and throw it away! It was only when I complained again that they actually got some sanitizer and cleaned it up. But they didn't disinfect the whole thing, just the one spot. So, ever since I just tell my kids sorry, we don't do that anymore. Really Gross.

I let my children play in the ball pits at McDonalds and Burker king ONLY if they are located inside the resturant. A woman took her child to a McDonalds which had the playground located outside, a homeless man slept in it at night and left one of his tainted syringes in the ball pit, a little boy was stuck with the needle in the back and died the next day from it, after all of the balls were taken out of the pit, you would not believe some of the nasty things that were taken out of it. I hope this helps

Nope, never did, never will. Once, when I was about 3 months pregnant with my first, a friend and I went to McDonald's to get some soda and talk, since we hadn't seen each other in a while. It was packed, so we ended up sitting where the tables are right by the ball pit. We both saw a little boy climb out, looking both horrified and disgusted, and said "Mommy, I saw three poopy diapers in there, and some throw up!" Both disgusted, we got up and left. Thank goodness I saw that, and didn't have any children yet, or that could've been my kid.

I don't let my grandkids play there any more because a child in a nearby town died from a rattlesnake bite while in a McDonald's play area. And then a friend who worked at another fast food play area said when they clean the ball pit, they find dirty needles, soiled diapers and all kinds of filth.

I NEVER LET MY SON PLAY IN THE BALLS BUT HE DOES ON THE SLIDES. THEY SHOULD BAN THOSE BALL PITS ALL TOGETHER. I WONDER IF THE HEALTH DEPARTMENTS WERE CALLED IF COMPLAING MIGHT MAKE THESE PLACES HAVE TO CLEAN THEM ONCE A WEEK AT LEAST.
