I don't like fences and would like to know if there is a shrub or tree that has thorns that would be impossible to go thru.

Blue Hollies.. dense and thorny.. nice dark green, too..

Hollies have thorns and can get thick. There are many different varieties to choose from with various shapes and sizes. Or bouganvilla has thorns too and pretty flowers also.

pycaranthus, the robbers and burglars really hate them. You can also try the "Christ of thorns" plant, it is a type of jujube, but man, the thorns are all over!

You might want to consider rose bushes. There ia a wide variety of colors and sizes to choose from.

Yucca plant would tear you a new one if you tried to come through but the don't get to tall....Hawthorn trees would work if you can keep it in check....Problem is if you have to prune it ....Then ouch i bet you will regret it later on....

You could try blackberries but they get out of control fast and they are pretty ugly.

I despise anything that can "bite me" so roses & cacti come to my mind first!

try bouganvillea--very thorny and has beautiful flowers!(if your climate is appropriate)
