They could try pigtails, twists, cornrows, etc. or just take their child to a beauty salon.

I always see these kids with messed up hair. That's not cute at all.

I never once said their children is not cute. I said, their lack of maintenance of their child's hair, makes their hair look not cute. Who wants to see a messy-haired kid in cute outfit?

Ralph Kramden and Robert Shelton, why don't you get a life?! You people are so pathetic. You are just mad because no black people want you. And thus, you are forced to admire them from afar. Aw.

Well...if you're not part of the solution.....you're part of the problem.

SO arm yourself with hair care products and when you see one of these 'messy heads' sit them down....and take care of it.... Random acts of kindness & senseless beauty....that's beautiful.

Most white people and non whites don't have a tradition of doing these things so they don't know.

They don't understand that it takes a lot of time and etc to deal with kinky curly hair.

It is just misunderstanding.

Other styles would be helpful, but I don't think they are comfortable with coming to our "shops".

I was once engaged to an Israeli man. (I have been engaged about 33 times, and married once before) I was living in Israel and spending time wanting to make my hair as black looking as possible (it is wavy straight, curly when wet, kind of like Mariah Carey's).

I decided I wanted braids but had no idea where to get them.
There are very few black American people in Israel. There are many more Ethiopian people and some West African people.

Anyway, I found an African area. I got sick and my fiance went to ask them for an appointment.

He was and is not a person easily offended by looks or stares, etc, as he dates black women, but even he was taken aback at how the women looked at him. He said he was made to feel that he really wasn't welcome there.

It happened to another guy I was dating, who was white, here in the United States. He picked me up at the beauty shop and I was in the back. He came to the door and people really made him uncomfortable.

I know when "others" have been in the shop, I have not stared but have put off the feeling and felt, "why are you here?", especially when I was a young girl.

It can be intimidating I am sure for them.

Also, I don't think they are aware of the diversity of things that can be done with biracial hair or any type of black hair (there are people who are not immediately "mixed" with that type of hair).

In the past if I would see a parent or parents, etc, struggling with this type of hair, particularly in the schools and charities and churches I worked with, I would say something to them about what could be done.

Lately, I would say in the last 3 years, I keep meeting with hostile people.

I try to explain to them that my grandmother was filipina and she (although having the support somewhat of my grandfather's family) had to deal with this, but I have gotten nothing but hatefulness.

I know what there is a lot of feeling involved, so it can be hard to deal with people sometimes.

Oh well. Sister, if you happen to see children like that, if you can, take the people aside and explain what might be helpful.

Have a good day.

My cousins are biracial and my aunt always tried to fix their hair right for the texture it is straightening/braiding etc. But when its not in braids or twists that doesnt mean its messed up.

your question is nothing but pure ignorance. there are kids of all races needing their hair done. why dont u focus on something more important like, why do people beat their children or why do they starve their children? there are more important things to worry about than how well groomed the child is!

have you ever seen how cute big hair looks on a biracial kid. especially if they have a blond afro. big hair is cute. atleast in my opinion, maybe some people don't wanna tie their kids' hair up.

No not at all. Kids should be cute as we all grow into ugly adults later in life.
